Quick question from the phone so Cba to find another thread.

When this morning was at the Albert dock where was the actual studio located in the complex? Just was trying to work it out when I was there on Tues

It was the area where the grey pillar is - I believe there is only one. If you think of where Tate Liverpool is, if you continue down that path, This Morning was in the corner. It used to be a furniture store, but I think it's changed again now.

I can see two grey pillars at the far end, is that it?

Yes, Granada painted the pillars grey because the red didn't look good on camera. I think they've been painted red again though, and the studio is now supposed to be a restaurant.

Oh, I always thought it was the unit that is now a Ha Ha pub. In that case it is now an independent restaurant called What's Cooking while the unit to the left has become a "Bugworld experience". Very Happy It's diagonally opposite to what was the main Granada building which will eventually become an extension to the International Slavery Museum.

The weather map was only removed a few years ago and I'm pretty sure the pillars are red now (edit: whoops! Maybe not then!).

The map was still there in 2001 and 2003.

Yep - I was at the Albert Dock yesterday and noticed that the Bugworld thing next door has closed. The recession bites I guess....

I can just about remember my grandparents taking me down to the Albert Dock to see Fred on the weather map in the early 1990s. I appreciate why it had to happen, but it is a shame that This Morning went to London. It was nice to have something of national importance coming from Liverpool. Even Granada packed up and went back to Manchester. It's a pity they didn't weather the storm, as Liverpool is really coming back now. Having lived here for almost a quarter of a century, it's been amazing to see how the city has changed.

The new Liverpool Museum certainly is an interesting addition to the skyline too down at the Albert Dock - it must have some pretty decent views out of it's windows that would look great on tv.

It really surprises me there isn't more of a TV presence in Liverpool, apart from Hollyoaks of course! It has plenty to offer. As you say, Liverpool is really on the way up, which I'm really proud to see, rivalling Manchester in several respects.

I'm a tad biased, but Liverpool is definitely worth the visit and is beyond recognition from even 3 years ago.

They've been some pictures of the views from the new museum and they are amazing, they capture the Mersey, the Liver Buildings and the Albert Dock. They are better images, but they are a few here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/liverpool/hi/people_and_places/newsid_9373000/9373387.stm

Given they bulldozed half the city centre for Liverpool One, it definitely is!

I suppose it's just not featured as much on tv because of the quirks of the regional system in this country. The people of Sheffield and Bradford say the same about Leeds as Liverpool says of Manchester.

Off the top of my head, I would think the North West regions and Yorkshire regions probably have the highest number of 'big cities' (in the top 10 English cities by population) within their patches (of the English regions)?

Imagine if a regional news programme could have that backdrop - would be great.
