So, Holly is the new This Morning host along with Phillip, this was posted on his website a few minutes ago:

Quote:
At 2.30pm today the deal was done and Holly became my new This Morning partner. Perfectly timed, as I was having my photo taken for the opening titles for the new series, which starts in September. Holly immediately jumped in to a car and came to the This Morning studios where we all had a couple of bottles of bubbly waiting for her arrival.

Everyone adores Fern and will miss her enormously but Holly Willoughby was at the top of everybody’s list to pick up where Fern leaves off. She filled in for Fern a few months ago and from that moment on everybody knew she was the obvious number one choice. This Morning is a very close-knit family not only in the studio but the audience as well and for that reason, Holly is perfect.

Personally, it will be interesting to see how Holly copes with harder and more upsetting subjects, I think her and Phil have a certain chemistry which I've felt him and Fern have lacked for a few months, so hopefully this will get the show to a great start in September.

Talking of the new series, Phillip also mentioned in that blog that he was having his photos taken for the new opening titles - I'm looking forward to a very different looking This Morning in September, it will be interesting to see if they go down the GMTV route and change everything quite drastically (logo, graphics, set)

It should be very interesting to see. I enjoyed the Friday that she did before Christmas & thought that she handled the interview with Jade Goody very well.

Interesting about Philip having his photo taken for the new titles. I wonder what they do have planned. They may just update the titles as they were only new last year, but then again it would make sense to bring a whole new look to the programme. I think the set needs a spruce up, they've had the same set for a few series now.

Has there been any news about whether or not Eamonn & Ruth will stay on for next series?

I found out from Gordon the Gopher so there.

I think it was clear from the start it was going to be Holly but knowing ITV's mad criteria, I'm surprised it wasn't some complete randomer. Good luck to her.

No surprise, but as competent as Holly Willoughby is, I can't help but feel this isn't the right decision either for her or This Morning. Her career is just beginning to take off - and being tied down to a role 4 or 5 days a week might hold her back.

Any news on whether Ruth and Eamonn will return as the relief presenters?

MediaGuardian have got their headline slightly wrong!

Just got this on my Twitter feed

@media_guardian Willoughby to replace Britton on GMTV http://bit.ly/y4vqo

I hardly think presenting This Morning wil mean that her career wont advance. I my eyes, If you become a presenter on daytimes shows like GMTV or This Morning, you are already near enough at the pinacle of your career!
I think it's a great choice, and feel Holly will inject some warmth into the show again.

However, I disagree with many on this forum and the newspapers on the Fern and Phil partership. I don't think their chemistry on air has been affected at all. I honestly can't seem to notice any difference between Fat Fern and Phil and Thin Fern and Phil. They stil seem to get on very well, still bursting into fits of giggles like they did before.

Holly is a much better presenter than the likes of Kate Garraway though.

Meh, I really don't see it. I never saw her on 'This Morning' last year but I can't say I've seen any sparkling chemistry between the two of them on DOI - she just seems like an Autocue dolly bird to me and brings nothing at all to the show. Plus she's got the most annoying grating voice.

She's alright, nothing special. I'd say the worst presenter, by far is Fearne Cotton! So annoying on screen.
