On Monday morning Phil said that Fern had arrived for work but felt ill and had to go home something about a bug .
Like most of us in this current climate i can't sympathise with all these celebs who argue about only getting £700,000 and all because Phil has a £ 2 million pound hand shake.
How many of us on here would love a £ 700,000 contract with Friday off and all the holidays thrown in .

Whatever the reason is, I doubt it's because of Phil. It's hard to imagine those two having a big fall out. Either way, it's a shame to see them "split"; it's a unique pairing and This Morning will never have those same giggling fits we all know and love.

Public backlash against her as of late, taking lots of time off, looking very unhappy etc.
Erm strange, I'd say it was the opposite. She's turned up on a couple of prime time shows lately, including presenting Comic Relief and appearing on Question Time - if there was a public backlash I doubt she would have been invited to either. She's also meant to be a contestant on Dancing on Ice next year too.
You shouldn't really second guess someone's reasons for leaving a programme but I would imagine Fern would be able to do much more without the commitment of doing a job four days a week. Not everything is always about money.

How come it came as "no surprise" to everyone else but me? Have I missed something?

Can't say I've noticed any of those things. I thought all the gastric band stuff had long since blown over.

Maybe it is a case of getting out whilst the going is good? Also doing a 4 day a week show with early starts for 10 years is pretty tough going. Sure Fern is well paid, but that doesn't actually make it physically easier to get up early every day.
Hmm - Myleene. I'd be surprised - think she's a bit too ubiquitous and a bit "nice but bland" as a result, and I'm not sure she's that popular (but then I'd be surprised if Fiona Philips was either)
Maybe they should do something a bit braver - and go with a lesser-known presenter. It worked with Christine Bleakely on The One Show - who does a brilliant job.

Not exactly early considering it's reported she gets picked up after dropping the kids off at school. However 10 years in the same job - well seven as the main host, is a long time in TV - and it does seem the right time for her to move on.
The question is whether there's actually anything for her to move on to - will she just end up on Loose Women a few months down the line?

Myleene said she quit The One Show as she didn't want such a regular job with a young child - think it suits her to pick and choose jobs rather than be tied into a daily show, so I doubt she'd want to do 4/5 days a week of a 2 hour show...

Surprisingly Paddy Power don't appear to be listing her on their betting odds:

One name stands out to me there - Emma Forbes.
