Ironically the day Holly finally makes her debut is the week Mel B guest hosts Loose Women.

In what way is that ironic?

The day This Morning gets its new host (finally) should be the day ITV daytime is properly back to normal. But the day she starts is the day the hosts of another flagship daytime show vanish. I suppose it isn't ironic as such but I'm sure you can see what I'm getting at.

The logo isn't bad but I wish they'd capitalise the T and the M. It looks so lazy all in lower case.

WRONG!

It would look awful if they did what you're suggesting, the new logo is perfect, it's friendly and relaxed which is what you want from this type of television if you're in the target audience. After all the show is meant to be your friend.

This new logo is much nicer than what went before which was a forgettable piece of cold text with a few random circles stuck on the top to make it a logo for the sake of it.

The titles seem quite effective from the bit we've seen, as well.

Great work, ITV.

I would say a programme like This Morning is meant to be your mentor, not your friend.

The logo is babyish end of.

The use of no capitals is an obvious branding choice, to make the show seem relaxed, and to invite the target audience - young mums at home who want daily gossip, clothing, food and whatever else.

It's a show which acts as some kind of 'companion' for women with children, women home alone. It is presented in a friendly fashion and thats whys its a popular daytime show.

But they already watch the show, Joshua. Having an all lower case logo isn't suddenly going to bring in new viewers, and it's not like there's much competition in programming for the target demographic at that time of day anyway. This Morning could have any old logo and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.

However, I do think the lazy use of all lower case letters in the logo demonstrates a rather patronising attitude towards the audience. This Morning is a grown up programme for grown adults who expect to be treated as such. You can't possibly say the new logo reflects that.

It'll be back to uppercase letters again within about three years anyway, so it's no matter.

The new logo reflects warmth, just look at the shape, the colour, and the fact theres no capitals. Its just attracting to the target audience. I bet you most women will love that new look, and women are the shows target.

Of course they will Joshua, it's very homely and feminine it suites the show perfectly. If this show was hard hitting Tonight with Trevor McDonald or Panorama I'd take your argument about it being patronising, Chie. The point is it's casual This Morning with Philip and Holly who you have natter with.
