Nigel Lythgoe is returning to British shores to find the nation's hottest dancing talent on BBC One with the award-winning So You Think You Can Dance.

Fresh from five seasons of the hit show in the US, Lythgoe will take up his position as head judge on a panel of industry experts who will select finalists to compete for the title of Britain's Favourite Dancer this January.

Dancers from all disciplines are invited to participate in nation-wide auditions which will take place during October.

Both amateur and professional are welcome – the only criteria are talent, personality and passion. The successful finalists will travel to London where they will compete for their place in weekly, live shows at Television Centre.

That pretty much seals the fate of Sky 1's Just Dance then. Auditions are also being held in October and is being screened in January. Bad luck Davina!

I read this on one of the other threads, doesn't this show have an almost identical format to Strictly Dance Fever though, take away some differences in the voting system?

If so all the BBC are paying for is the brand, which I don't think is really an important ingredient.

Cat Deely presents the US version - which by the way is absolutely BRILLIANT.

If they find a similar quality of performer then we're in for a treat.

It's more youth orientated isn't it?

The circularity of life. I always thought SYTYCD was a tweak of SDF... Wonder if it will be Graham or Cat, or ANOther presenting.

I'd say Sara Cox is a good bet.

She would be hideous.

It'll go to Graham.. everything does. Although I reckon Alesha Dixon is a safe bet *ahem..*

She would be just as hideous as old 'Coxy', then again I'd much rather Cox/Dealy or Dixon over Fearne Bimbo Cotton.

Its nothing like Strictly Dance Fever. That was just a non-celebrity version of Strictly Come Dancing. Think more along the lines of Britain's Got Talent but just for dancers then you're more on the mark. So a bit like Dance X I suppose but SYTYCD has good producers behind it. I'm shocked its ended up on the BBC, I always felt it was destined for Channel 4.
