Things I hate on television

These are the things I hate about what other people hate about television

Arrow One complaint to the regulators resulting in a guilty verdict
Arrow People complaining about shows without actually watching them - or just watching shows to complain about them
Arrow Mediawatch UK
Arrow People complaining about good shows being shown late at night or during the day. Late night and daytime viewers deserve good television as well
Arrow People automatically assuming the BBC is better without any real justification
Arrow People complaining when live sport interupts programmes such as soaps and repeats of Star Trek
Arrow People complaining when unscheduled coverage of a major news event messes up the schedule

Other irritations:
Arrow Programmes being heavily revamped and then unrevamped a few weeks later
Arrow The BBC getting away with blatantly copying formats (Fame Academy 2, rip-offs of C4 property shows & Faking It)
Arrow The editing of films for strong language and violence when they are shown in the middle of the night (BBC especially)
Arrow Unappropriate ECPs - in general they are fine, but sometimes the credits need to roll in silence
Arrow BBC's ever increasing trailers which aren't for actual programmes
Arrow Sky's monopoly of digital TV

So if someone said on the TV that you were an **** ****ing **** ********er and you were the only one to complain..... it shouldn't be upheld?

Not heard of Freeview, Telewest, NTL? or all the hundreds of channels such as UKTV, Bravo, Discovery etc etc?

I also hate badly dubbed adverts. The Kinder Surprise ad used to be an excellent example of this. Mad

You can never tell with Vanish ads. However, the ad does appear to be badly dubbed, and it seems strange to use that particular actor if it is an infomercial spoof.

Fame Academy was based on Star Academy which is a French format so - as with most things - blame the French.

I would say Fame Academy is significanlty different than Pop Idol. If it was a blatent rip off they'd have been sued.

With the first series they got away with it, but all the changes made for the second series (heats, all contestants singing, axing the Big Brother style updates) have made it even more like Pop Idol.

Even if the only person who is offended is the person who the item was about?

So if I was to go on TV and say that you are a ********ing ******* who ******* and *****s *******ers and only you (that's one person) complained..... then the complaint should be dismissed?

Another thing that gets me is the misuse of words on television, especially by newsreaders, media-trained spokespeople and other public figures. The latest one is 'robust'. Everything has to be 'robust this, robust that', what about some alternatives to this, you who I have just mentioned? Get your thesauruses out!!

Just remembered another one - people using the word 'deliver' on television instead of the more accurate 'provide'.....
