ITV's appauling idea of scheduling. Nothing ever stays in the same place. It's disgusting and Americanised

Hardly. American schedules generaly follow the same pattern weekday after weekday, even on Christmas day, particularly on the independents. The only thing that causes a change to scheduled programs on the networks are major events like the OJ trial or somebody flying a plane into the WTC.

And I would have thought "important" local news events like police chases would disrupt the schedules.

Well shows are cancelled in the middle of their run though. That is what I am refering to.

ITV don't do that yet

Crossroads got pulled mid-run didn't it? I remember many a person here moaning that it wasn't allowed 12 months (even if Pickard would have pulled it then anyway) as promised. Even Night and Day was allowed its full run.

Ah but Crossroads was
1 - a soap
2 - allowed to get to an ending of sorts instead of just vanishing

Night and Day did it's full run but at midnight on Thursdays.

And how many cities have coverage of police chases?

I think you will find that the police chases which are covered on TV are on a few stations in California. Now how many other tv stations does that leave? A few thousand at least.

Also, in almost all cases, if programming is interrupted, the schedule is never altered.

So if a police chase does happen to interrupt a program, then when the event is over, viewers are informed

"We now return you to the scheduled program, already in progress ..."

Local stations will be prepared to interrupt daytime programming, when it is only local ads which may get canned and thus local advertizers who have to be reimbursed, but for network affiliates during network primetime (20:00h - 23:00h) stations will be very reluctant to opt out of network programming due to contractual obligations to carry those programs and the network ads. Obviously with independents, this is not going to be a problem, but remember (a) that not many independents are still around, and (b) the independents do not have the money and resources to maintain large news gathering facilities (if indeed any) and so will not be covering the aforementioned car chases or other live events.

ITV don't do that yet but the way they hide things they might as well

And another thing, what the hell have we Meridian viewers done to deserve Trisha on our regional idents? We're not ALL axe-murderers, you know.
Exclamation Isn't the Trisha show made by Anglia? And the girl's an Aussie, what does she have to do with Southern England? Sounds like ITV's ident planners need to get their act together - no mistakes like that on the new set please...

I absolutely hate poorly-dubbed adverts.

Do they think we won't notice? That the public is dumb enough to swallow it?

I don't know, but It hurts the brand's image in my eyes, and makes it look laughable. Why should I bother to pay for their product if they can't be bothered to pay for a decent advert?

You mean like that Snow White ad for washing powder - the short version says Come on Snow White instead of Come on Madam - obvious dubbing, doesn't lip sync? Not good.

There's a new one for Vanish which is very badly dubbed. It features a man who is obviously famous in another country, as no average actor with nails as grotty as those would be chosen to demonstrate the product.

I think that one's a spoof of an infomercial. "You can even mix your own! Look how cleeeeeeeeean it is! Just add a bit to your wash" etc.
