Embarrassingly you don't get a 404 error when you see the actual paper still for sale on news stands at teatime.

Now The Times are claiming that ITV's won it.

If true then ITV are maybe looking at not renewing The X Factor for 2017 and will drop this in instead. Might be a win-win for both sides as it'll appease those who think the BBC shouldn't be doing the show anyway and gives ITV a chance to work with something new to try and get viewers back. As well as beginning an era of having far less reliance on Simon Cowell.

Is it possible X factor doest come back next year and its just replaced by the voice but with Cowell given a seat?

No because they're under contract to produce a show next year.

Really do think this is ITV's most stupid commission since Rising Star. If they could nab Strictly I'd understand it, but this really is a case of taking something so the BBC can't have it rather than because they need it themselves. The X Factor may be failing and there is a big hole in the Winter schedule but if The Voice is the answer then ITV is asking the wrong questions.

Doesn't BGT usually beat it in the ratings anyway?

Confirmed by the BBC.

Though if it follows the usual pattern of broadcasters poaching others shows, it will flop and die a death on ITV.

Hope this sees the BBC tidy up their schedules a bit and move Doctor Who away from the autumn where they don't really need it to anchor the Winter/Spring schedules.

Or did ITV buy it just to never use it? Remember this is not the first time thats happen Wink

As already mentioned not renewing The Voice probably benefits the BBC in respects of it's charter renewal and criticism about paying so much for an external format. For ITV now having the rights means they can use it as leverage against Cowell / The X Factor and potentially axe the show completely. I get the impression they may also have the option of making an additional 'junior' version of the show, which the BBC had been against making.

Ref Doctor Who I gather Stephen Moffat has already announced that next year there won't be a full series due to his other commitments (Sherlock).

I agree and I suspect they were playing chicken with the BBC and have had their bluff called.
It also means that ITV studios/ Talpa have just lost 25m pounds worth of BBC business.
A very big gamble especially if the BBC Voice audience doesn't move channels like when they tried to do the Musical talent shows.
