The Voice

The Mirror's front page tomorrow is claiming in an exclusive that the BBC won't be renewing The Voice beyond its upcoming series. Even with the recent pressure they've received over this show in particular it does seem a little hard to believe when it rates so well. That would be ITV's Saturday night new year woes solved in an instant as they'd surely swoop in and snap it up.

BBC attempt to mount public pressure on the government.

Not so much a swoop as a saunter considering they now own the company behind the format.

When you read what the articlesit talks more about the BBC not getting into a bidding way with ITV for it which is not the same as axing it. We know that initially the producers went with the BBC even though ITV bid more, this time it's obviously more complex as ITV now own the production company and the implications of that are not yet known but if the BBC can negotiate a good deal I think we'll still see it on BBC One.

The Mirror itself has now changed it's story.

Ooops, slight u-turn compared to the front page shown on http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-the-papers-34524144. I imagine there will be a few red faces at the paper and some amusement from rivals and onlookers.

They've incorrectly put that ITV owns the production company that makes it, Wall to Wall which is owned by Warner Bros. They actually own the company that licenced the format to them, Talpa.

I wonder how they managed to get the story so wrong in the first place.

The days of journalists fact checking stories are long gone now that they have to churn out a dozen stories a day.

BBC has not kept it yet but instead bid to keep it on the bbc.
