Why would they need to have it finished in time for Lets Dance? For hosts, they won't go anywhere near Alex Jones and if they're going to be predictable and go for a BBC name then it will be Steve Jones, Cat Deeley or Fearne Cotton. Despite being at risk of making their show an X Factor clone, they could do much much worse than poaching Dermot from X Factor and then they could sit back and watch X Factor fall apart next year. He'd be much more likely to speak about it on Radio 2 then.

Because the Six Nations kicks in from February, meaning pre-7pm is wiped out most Saturday nights in Feb/Mar, so only room for one such show really. Plus even if they could get both in the schedules it's been a long time since the BBC had two live entertainment formats on a Saturday night.

Steve Jones is out of the question since he'll be doing X Factor USA. There's no way Dermot would dare leave the X Factor.
Sadly I can imagine Fearne being a strong possibility.

They could still fit them both in, 7-8pm- Lets Dance, 8-10pm- The Voice, and crush ITV in the process.
You're all getting your hopes up... the BBC will find a way to make this dull and unappealing, like they did with SYTYCD. There's a rumour they want Paul O'Grady to host it.

Enough said.
Doesn't Paul have a golden handcuffs deal with ITV making that impossible?

I would put the Voice on June-September next year so we have a big summer talent show which we don't really have. If at the same time as Let's Dance then they could show Let's Dance on a Friday?

June - September? The lowest rating time of the year, when lots of people have multi-week holidays, and often spend weekends evenings away from the TV set?

He does a BBC Radio 2 show each sunday so I doubt it.
The reason I said Alex Jones because they seem keen to get her onto other programmes ie. Royal Wedding/ Let’s Dance and I think she would be perfect for the Voice she’s warm and welcoming and not to serious and does not act stupidly or false. As somebody else said it is all about the judges in my view Cheryl Cole has a huge following and can only be good for the programme, her track record with mentoring successful acts on the x factor and good personality would really add a dimension to the programme, Danni is the most popular talent show judge and the two actually were quite good together it would not be an X Factor clone if they have two other people unrelated to X Factor judge panels on the panel and a very BBC host. I always thought Mark Owen from take that had good advice for the contestants when he and Gary Barlow did that guest mentor slot on the X Factor when it was take that week but they probably would never consider him.

Alex would be the wrong choice IMO, I do really like her but she doesn't seem to fit into that genre so well and I'm unsure as to whether should could carry the show alone. I think we'll probably get Fearne Cotton, which is an awful choice...
In terms of judges, I see no wrong in bringing Cheryl or Dannii on board. I'd personally prefer to see Dannii, who would be wonderful with the coaching and mentoring aspect, but both have a 'voice' at some level, and it will bring in the audience surely?
Then with the likes of Adele (who is rumoured) a really strong and ballad-esque singer, and then two other males maybe, you'd have a good group of judges.

I think the BBC are planning to cover a little event next summer packed with plenty of talent.
