But The Voice UK, implies it's an just a British version of an import already established here as a foreign show. The Voice of Ireland doesn't have that implication.

I assume the problem here is that The Voice of Britain would exclude Northern Ireland, and The Voice of The UK doesn't really scan well.

Why would The Voice UK exlcude Northern Ireland if it's part of the Great Britain? Or is it included in The Voice Ireland?

Britain is an affectionate name used to refer to the whole of the UK.

Additionally, residents of Northern Ireland are British nationals, as per the British Nationality Act.

Calling it 'The Voice of Britain' would not therefore exclude Northern Ireland.

Although in my opinion it should be called The Voice.

The Dutch version is called The Voice of Holland even though Holland is just a region of The Netherlands, which is like calling our version The Voice of Greater London.

Northern Ireland isn't part of Great Britain, although it (and Ireland) are part of the British Isles. Great Britain is the name of the largest of the British Isles.

It doesn't. You haven't understood my post. Maybe it wasn't 100% clear.

The name "The Voice of Britain" would seem to exclude Northern Ireland and the name "The Voice of the UK" doesn't really scan well. This, I presume, is why the BBC have decided to go with "The Voice UK".

In fairness that's debatable. But I've got into an argument about placenames over on Metropol before and it never ends well. Regardless, I was just suggesting this as a potential reason why they decided not to go with "The Voice of Britain". Seems quite plausible to me but I may well be wrong.

The Voice of Britain sounds awful as a name, and doesn't really connote a talent show. Also, it allows viewers to refer to the show as "The Voice" in speech, as opposed to "Voice of Britain".

Nice to see them calling it The Voice in the trailers - not The Voice UK.

Does anybody know the production company of the music for the Voice, e.g titles, beds etc? I see from looking online each version have their own sung country specific opening etc... I wonder if the UK will go down the American route and not have a country name in the vocal part of the theme.

The music was composed in The Netherlands by Martijn Schimmer. Don't know if all variations were produced in The Netherlands, but the package contains also various instrumental versions, so it is possible for each production company to edit it afterwards.

Actually Holland does not exist!!!

There is a North Holland and a South Holland - both different "counties" but no Holland - saying that there is talk of merging North Holland, South Holland, Utrecht and Flevoland into one "county" called Randstad. Once that happens then ethere will be no confusion! Holland will just be a British colloquialism for The Netherlands.
