I can't see why it has to be called The Voice UK either. When The X Factor launched in the US they didn't call it The X Factor USA over there did they. I know they did on ITV2 but that was for our benefit.

The thing to remember is the format and show originated from Holland, not the USA. Lots of other countries have their name in the title, so the UK is only following this format. America was the exception on this occasion.

But The Voice UK, implies it's an just a British version of an import already established here as a foreign show. The Voice of Ireland doesn't have that implication.

It's irrelevant because the average viewer won't realise there are 35 other franchises around the world.

Four countries just call the show 'The Voice'. Most countries call it 'The Voice of X'.

Most people will just call it 'That X-Factor thing' anyway.

RTÉ are making their own version (having bought the rights) called "The Voice of Ireland".

Their website is up and running for a long time now.

One of the coaches Niall Breslin (Bressie) is a former rugby player for Leinster BTW. He was in the blizzards for a few years, and then he went solo.

The Presenters of The Voice of Ireland are Kathryn Thomas and Eoghan McDermott.

The judges are shown below

How many weeks has the Irish version been running now? Are they at the live stage now?

Nearly, we're on week 3 of the battle rounds I think.

We're still at the battle rounds I think...

Thanks for that. Looking at the blog it looks like 5 Blind Auditions and then 3 Battle Rounds, then the live shows begin. I'm thinking how long the UK series will be. 12 weeks?

Not completely familiar with the format but I think the live stage is actually quite short as they basically go 16>12>8>4, losing one from each "coach" each week. I think that's how NBC did it anyway.

If our version does last 12 weeks then it looks possible that both the finales of The Voice and Britain's Got Talent could be on the same night - 9th June?

But The Voice UK, implies it's an just a British version of an import already established here as a foreign show. The Voice of Ireland doesn't have that implication.

I assume the problem here is that The Voice of Britain would exclude Northern Ireland, and The Voice of The UK doesn't really scan well.

Euro 2012 kicks off on the 8th June so both will be over by then. BGT will likely run the same week as usual despite the Bank Holiday moving and finish on the 2nd June.
