Depends if the conviction has been "spent" or not possibly? Hope somebody who is in the know can clear this up for us!

Not sure about lawyers being on a jury but I seem to think that criminal record is not a disqualification. I could be wrong I'm a bit out of date.

Well, the Verdict is in and based on your remarks there must be 2 million barristers, judges, solicitors, magistrates, defendants and victims of crime in this country.
Probably not the breakout hit it was hyped up to be - especially as it had a potential inheritance of 6m from Top Gear.
It could be a grower, but with episodes 3 and 4 scheduled against the premieres of the second series of Life on Mars and Hotel Babylon, I can't see it doing much.
In the same slot Foyle's War came out on top with 7.6m viewers, C4 second with 4m for The Day after Tomorrow, BBC1 third with 3.9m for the first hour of the Baftas, with Five trailing behind BBC2 with just 1m for Cocktail.

Love it. Just hope it's going to be great and not messed up OFCOM wise or other Mary Whitehouse types!
Bet every barrister in the country is going to be watching this one, not to mention judges, solicitors, magistrates, defendants and EVERY victim of crime.

Anyway didn't Channel 4 do a similar type show only a month or so ago?
Yep, its was called Consent and it is talked about on Digital Spy. I think the BBC copied this show idea.

Well, it's not a new idea at all - numerous dramas have been produced in the past that use a "real" jury to decide a fictional case.
Crown Court I think is the most notable, while I think The Courtroom a couple of years back on C4 did the same.

You may be right that I am in a minority liking this type of program but I don't choose programs to watch based on ratings, I watch things that grab my attention and this is the first thing I've seen in ages that pricked my interest.
Although I do confess I did watch some of the last Celeb Big Brother because I was astounded that a Jackson and Dirk Benedict were on it. Usually these celebrity things are a case of 'who on earth are half these people?'
Never heard of consent but I do remember Crown Court I think, wasn't it 1970's early 80's lunch time drama thing on week days?
I have no idea how many victims of crime, coppers, magistrates, judges etc there are in the country.
