Did anyone see the programme on ITV1 last night as part of the Unforgettables series, this week it was about the late Rod Hull.

I remember him being on all those chat and game shows, but one never really thought too much about him personally, but this programme highlights just how nice the man was without Emu by his side, worth watching if you missed it.

... OK, thanks for the suggestion. Is there a conversation to be had here?

The series The Unforgettables, has been going on for 10 years now on ITV, and its at the higher end of the programmes produced by the station.

Did you read the post? "Did anyone see the programme about Rod Hull last night?"

Quite clearly a question, to which there is an answer:

No I didn't, but if it was anything like the previous entries in the series, it was excellent. They crop up on Gold on Sundays - I think the Tony Hancock one was on a couple of weeks ago.

I suppose its nice to know Rod Hull came across better without the puppet.

As a youngster I didn't enjoy him going on chat shows. The (now infamous) Parkinson interview was an uncomfortable watch - probably because Parky couldn't really contain his displeasure. And try as I might, all I could see when I watched was Rod's arm and hand bashing and covering his interviewers face. I wasn't sold on the illusion that the Emu was real. It looked more violent than anything.

I was a sensitive wee flower, right enough.

I believe Rod hated that bird, especial when he's asked to appear on chat show and all there ever did was talked about the dam bird. All he wanted to do was to be interviewed on his own merit.

Which was what? The bird was his act.

You're getting mixed up with the Channel 4/Thames 'Heroes of Comedy' series that GOLD (and More 4 occasionally) show. The Hancock episode was on recently, it doesn't look like 'The Unforgettable' has done Hancock.

That's why I like it, Parky's a grumpy old sod! He's always moaning about that interview, but it was good to career

ITV did cover other people than comedy people.
