Just stumbled across this programme. Who would believe it eh! Julian Clary presenting a programme of this calibre at this hour on BBC2. He must be missing Fanny the wonderdog.
I can't believe it! This sort of cr*p on BBC Two, together with the Graham Norton Show. What has happened to the channel. It's supposed to be a little more highbrow than this surely?
They've even got an hour of the gay dog show with a results programme later - a la BBC One/ITV1.

So Julian is doing it doggy style these days is he
On the subject of BBC 2 losing more of the highbrow output - it doesn't seem very balanced how the BBC 4 schedules often contain much of both highbrow programming and often some very interesting docs, or themed events, while all this sort of content is then no longer seen on BBC 2 despite this time 10 years ago it almost certainly would have been, especially around the mid 90s where every so often there'd themed season / night / weekend.
And yet, what makes this even more bizarre is that while programmes worthy of being on BBC 2 are instead being aired on a digital channel, the Beeb's other digital only station, BBC 3, doesn't seem to get the same treatment despite being BBC 4's digital sister of sorts.
From what I've seen, compared to Beeb 4, BBC 3 isn't so much taking away any potential programming from BBC 1 as more being a testing / dumping ground for shows which they aren't confident enough to air on one of the main channels, by the looks of things possibly because they consider it too lowbrow or likely to offend, and then that's all sandwiched between Two Pints repeats...But, I digress.
I suppose if you are fond of dogs (or not very fond of Holby City) The Underdog Show - or Celebrity Crufts as ITV1 might have called it - is worth a look, but Julian Clary does not work as presenter; most of the gags he makes seem to fall a bit flat too.
The show purpose and basic idea seems very much like this year's equivalent of Only Fools On Horses to me, albeit it's not on BBC1 like that was. And with dogs instead of horses, obviously...

Now if the people were
riding
the dogs, that surely would be a sight to behold. It is BBC2 after all - innovate, you b*stards!
Just watched this show on BBC2 tonight for the first time - and it was a damn entertaining good show - full of laughs, skill and Julian Clary smut! Great stuff!! I'll have to watch the final next week.
Shame I've missed the rest of this run but hopefully it will be back!
That Casper incident confirmed in my mind what I've always suspected: that all small terrier-type yappy dogs are evil
Little b*stards. If you want a dog, get a proper dog, and if you want a small pet, get a cat. These little yapping things need rounding up into a room and a grenade thrown in.

Bring back Come and Have a Go!!!!
I watched some of it tonight and thought Julian was bland and just following the script to be honest.

(NOT a homophobic jibe) it's the only Fanny he ever got near
