What does everyone think about STV's Malawi Campaign then? Confused

Great idea (and highly commendable) as a standalone programme or a five minute insert into a half hour news programme, an absolute joke as a main news story in the 10.30pm news (when you've only got 10 minutes to play with)

STV should be concentrating on its local area and stop trying to be BBC World with a millionth of the resources.

The idea that this should be lead item in a short news bulletin (as it was for the STV and former Grampian region the other night) is an absolute bloody joke, and should be the result of a complaint to OFCOM as it is in no way regional.

OFCOM couldn't care less! you could have some flasing men and blood and gorr and there still wouldn't care!

I really like the STV announcer tonight - putting a lot of personality into it, and he's just namechecked his nephew on the last anno. Laughing

I never noticed that. What did he actually say?
There has been a problem with announcements over the last few days, the music plays, then when the anno comes on the music goes silent.

"I know my nephew Ben is looking forward to tonight's X Factor final, it's on at 7" or something along those lines.

They did have that problem with the music going silent though. Strange one.

That was nice of him. Very Happy
He is the best stv announcer of the bunch.

Agreed - don't know the guy's name but he always seems enthusiastic. Achieves the trick of giving the audience the idea he's been watching with them and is right into it.

There's a lot of young people coming through at STV who seem to have reinvigorated things recently.

Has anyone being noticing that they've been cutting the ends of the idents off recently? Every time I see the climbing ident, it cuts out just before the "real" S turns into the computer graphic.

Irritating.

Well, I just brought this thread back to say I'm getting a little bit fed up with the stv idents now. I wish they would go back to using the Christmas ones, but without the sparkles. They looked much more professional.

I would enjoy the regionality on them for as long as you can mate.We may go back to generic promos idents and continuity .

They may as well add UTV to their idents or how about U.S. TV .I think that things won't remain the same for long at STV operation wise.

I would imagine that many jobs will go perhaps in transmission and admin .You just have to look at the history of Tyne Tees,Granada, and Border when their playout operation was moved to Leeds.
Enjoy it whilst it lasts.

Why do people keep saying enjoy it while it lasts or it's only a matter of time before it all links up to ITV?

If it does it does and if it doesn't then fair enough. Unless anyone knows for sure what's the point in this constant speculation???

I agree but specualtion and rumour is what life is all about SOL like it or not.
