It looks like they're using a breakbumper at the end of ad breaks now. Looks a lot better.
The logic behind it is obvious. They need to show you the stv logo before the ident because you won't see it otherwise, due to the ident always being chopped off early.
As well as a bumbling announcer that can't even speak (yet some of you seem to like him), the aspect ratio also flicked half way through the ident. My computer fixed this though so it's not in the file.
That is a technical problem it's a delay on the live link for some reason not sure why but they have put a delay on that link very odd perhaps it's teething problems in the new studio or something .
That announcer does not sound like that normally .I think he is ex BBC or SKY .I have heard him before and he sounds quite quirky .
New ident for Scotsport - basically just a few men playing football on a beach. Hopefully we'll see more additions to the set.
I'm pretty sure I saw that one on the launch day actually, the one with the dog in it. I'm not as sure whether we'll see any new additions soon; ITV1 hasn't added any to their regular set, whereas UTV seem to keep adding ones all the time. I would hope for one or two new ones for STV by next year at least!

Well if he doesn't sound like that normally then
yes, that does sound like the announcer was working with a delay ......must have been very offputting for him , hence how he sounds .....probably a technical hitch of some sort or routing problem in the new transmission suite.
I gather its having alot of teething problems. Only to be expected when you have a new transmission launch. (Some people here are very quick to judge!)
God knows how they're going to pad two hours. I don't know how much more of the Setanta highlights they've got access to, and I presume the paid-for station has a monopoly on the majority of it. They also don't have Sara O and Julyan to do the crap filler nonsense which, while awful, filled a lot of time. No doubt though that Scotsport will account for a vast proportion of STV's regional programming over the coming season.
Meanwhile - if STV are going to opt-out of ITV programming and save money on it, they should be forced to provide local programming instead. Otherwise they could just ditch anything for the sake of cost, presumably the reason that rule was implemented in the first place.
Do we really have up here in SMGLand this God-given opportunity to opt out of the ITV Network Centre at any moment of our choosing?
Limited additional local programming would be a good idea, but why can't they start by ditching The Mint, Quizmania, and Love Island?
They are dead correct in not showing The Championship - limited Scottish appeal to say the least, but must they replace it with some worn-out repeat of The Crocodile Hunter Diaries? If they would now take the opportunity to show more in the way of Scottish output, they would put all their current woes behind them.
Instead, they continue to hitch themselves on to the coat-tails of the failed ITV1, and thanks exclusively to this, the company finds itself just now without a CEO and a badly-compressed share price.
I would go as far to say that the only programmes you would definitely keep would be Coronation Street and the Champions' League, you could argue a case for Emmerdale, but as for the rest of it, no loss of any of the current output would be felt here.
