God knows how they're going to pad two hours. I don't know how much more of the Setanta highlights they've got access to, and I presume the paid-for station has a monopoly on the majority of it. They also don't have Sara O and Julyan to do the crap filler nonsense which, while awful, filled a lot of time. No doubt though that Scotsport will account for a vast proportion of STV's regional programming over the coming season.

Meanwhile - if STV are going to opt-out of ITV programming and save money on it, they should be forced to provide local programming instead. Otherwise they could just ditch anything for the sake of cost, presumably the reason that rule was implemented in the first place.

I don't know how Jim's going to cope with a whole 2 hours on his own to be honest. Confused He as usual will have his guests, but would there be any harm in bringing back my namesake to assist him? Confused I'm not underestimating Jim by any means - he certainly knows his stuff, but so does Jane - she was and I have no doubt she will remain impressive! Very Happy

Anyone else got thoughts on this? Rolling Eyes

I think 2 hours is a bit extravagant for a highlights programme. I can see it being cut to an hour within a few months.

It looks like they're using a breakbumper at the end of ad breaks now. Looks a lot better.

The logic behind it is obvious. They need to show you the stv logo before the ident because you won't see it otherwise, due to the ident always being chopped off early.

Yet another ghastly junction (about 1MB in .rv format) from tonight. These seem to be the rule and not the exception at the moment.

As well as a bumbling announcer that can't even speak (yet some of you seem to like him), the aspect ratio also flicked half way through the ident. My computer fixed this though so it's not in the file.

He sounded like the whole junction had taken him by surprise.

There is a very good CA who chitty chats out of Emmerdale and seems as wrapped up in the story as I get - but it's not the guy on that clip.

Is that bloke serious? How did he ever get an announcing job?

Yeah. He proclaimed on Saturday that Prehistoric Park "looks really cool! I'm sure going to be watching it."

She also seems to enjoy doing some sort of random "Hhmmmm" sound alot, trying to be sexy. It fails. Every time.

I think you are talking about Colin, who was duty announcer on Tuesday.
It is ironic that in the last eight years, the best announcers on Grampian and Scottish have been the freelancers.
