Loiks like a nice well designed site. And very fast loading too.

The URL just strikes me as abit dodgy though. www.stv.tv doesn't look right.

I know that www.s.tv and www.stv.com have been taken, but you would've thought SMG would have approached "Smart Technology Ventures" with a view to buying it similar to the way BSkyB bought Sky.com.

Maybe they have and it was abit expensive. But they could've always called the channel something else.

Reports in the Daily Record yesterday and the News of the World today that Sarah O and Julyan Sinclair have been axed from Scotsport SPL.

Not before time quite frankly - they were tragically mis-cast in a show which only needed one presenter and a couple of pundits, and a lot more highlights. It was utterly pointless, comical, and most of the crap they were responsible for (footballer keepie-up, for God's sake) just detracted from the highlights themselves. Julyan still has a successful show on XFM Scotland which sounds quite good - Sarah O sounds quite talentless but will no doubt find something thanks to her looks.

On the Sarah O point - she's either a) made a very cynical publicity move in today's NOTW or b) had a genuine point of reflection. See what you think yourselves.

Hopefully this will mean the new 90 minute programme will result in far higher proportion of highlights - in reality it'll probably mean more crap from Graham Speirs and Archie Macpherson. It would be nice to think they'd done this in response to the public slaughtering them, but in reality it's probably just STV costcutting.

That would involve STV spending some money to produce a show, so I don't think there's any danger of that happening. Laughing

The new North/South Grampian split will support the launch of a more localised news service, which will be introduced in January 2007. This will give Scotland Today and North Tonight the ability to provide regional news opt-outs for the North and South Grampian region and east and west Central Scotland.

It irritates me (some could say irrationally) that boradcastesr use the tivilan domain. What would be wrong with stv.co.uk?

Also, what was wrong with the 'Grampian' brand? Why si there the feeling that itv needs to be consolidated?

They use the ".tv" domain because it was created specifically for broadcasters in an attempt to free up some of the other domains. ".info" and ".biz" were some of the others created at the same time.

Because SMG are consolidating their brand. This has nothing to do with ITV plc's consolidation of it's franchises.

Sorry, but it's not - .tv is the global top level domain for the island of Tuvalu; but most users of the domain are TV companies, rather than natives of Tuvalu.
