Grampian TV DOES still exist! Walk along Aberdeen's beachfront, and you will see the sign denoting that it still continues to sponsor the Aberdeen Eye (think London Eye - Dinky Toy Version)

As for the idents, the best on the ITV Network, if only because they look nothing like the dreadful "ITV1" ones. Given this, I wonder if ITV PLC have a view on one of their "partners" adopting a completely new look that bears no comparison to theirs.

Nothing will ever fully compensate for the loss of the Grampian TV brand, but SMG's stock will surely rise if they can find some way of putting on better programming... Laughing Mr. Green

Yes, Grampian Television does still exist. It still holds the ITV license for the North of Scotland, just like Scottish Television has the license for Central Scotland.

I have to say, from what I see here (the only thing I have access to, as I don't live in the UK), that the STV Idents are far batter than the ITV idents (they are horrible) and the BBC One idents. The only idents that can match are probably Channel 4's. Those idents are just clever, period.

It's going to take a bit of time to get used to them Razz , but then again - on the other hand, it's going to take even longer to get bored of them! Wink

the endboards and bumpers look great, and the idents are I guess are marginally better then ITV1!

I must say, I was really getting sick of Arial, but I think STV now uses it well, and it actually looks nice. Shocked

Forgive my thickness, but have STV moved to Pacific Quay? Or are they still at Cowcaddens?

They're still at Cowcaddens. They move to PQ next month.

Ok, thanks for that. Surely it would have made sense to rebrand when they begin broadcasting from PQ? Or was there a reason for rebranding on tuesday?

Seems nice enough - yet to see it on TV yet, but just going by downloads. Also seems pointless though. As pointed out earlier, every networked show refers to ITV1 - unless SMG are just trying to get ITV PLC buy them out to have a united brand across the UK, why not make the switch? You could argue that it's against local identity, but they've just killed off the Grampian brand, and don't Channel TV use ITV1 idents nowadays? Surely a station is judged more by the programmes it produces (or doesn't) rather than 15 second adverts before programmes that no-one notices.

I believe the phrase may be pissing against the wind. It all seems a little transitional, as if they've got rid of the Scottish bit, and killed Grampian, next is ITV1. And no doubt, like HTV, ITV PLC will argue that they've restored the name Scotland to the logo as well when it happens (for approximately six months, before they ditch it altogether. Argh, there's that word again).

It must be strange for viewers in the Grampian region who watch ITV2, 3 & 4 and GMTV and therefore see constant promos for programmes on ITV1. Yet today have seen there channel receive a new name, STV. It does seem a bit pointless, and unless the digital channels were regionalised, there's no way to avoid this

It is also strange for viewers in the Grampian region when we see an ITV2 promo, followed by an stv ident, like we had a few minutes ago.

All together Scotland (except for viewers in Border) - this is STV Laughing

If I hear that All together catchphrase one more time, I will throw a brick at the telly. Now all together sport; now all together entertainment. What sort of announcement is that? All together, what a load of rubbish.
We did however have decent continuity tonight with the return of Cammy, despite the new ECP being broke already;all together now,hip hip hooray.

Get Jim Symon on there. 24 hours a day. In fact, I'd want Jim Symon doing network continuity. He's ace!
