I actually quite liked the C3NE logo, and the presentation....well it was different at the time

and to see them animate, look at the News Report. Truly cheap, and really awful - was looking forward to a slick animation - not a piece of cardboard being passed about like pass-the-parcel.

In addition to this, head of STV, Billy Hain says:
"The old [logo] was designed in the days before online and digtal television.. but as we step into the digital era I think it's important we have a new look."

Yet, STV and Grampian both got new shiny websites when the current logo (version 1 - the squares) was launched in 2000. Also, the current logo was designed in 2000 - when ON digital had been going for 2 years as well as Sky Digital.

I don't really understand his point.
Why not just be honest and say "We just wanted one brand for all of Scotalnd and it annoys us that people still call us STV so we took the easy option and reverted back."?

And what does the ident say about Scotland? Nothing at all.

Even if it robbed STV and Grampian of individuality, the 2000 look captured the essence of Scotland in a way that everyone could appreciate.

Jeesssoo! They look awful, cheap and tacky! The S in STV appears quite like the S for British Steel - too cheap as well.

BRING BACK THE REAL IDENTS WITH THE ST TEAM IN THEM!

And look what happened to them...decimated by Ian MacGregor then sold off by the Mad Cow.

I like the idea of the logo being handled and passed on from scene to scene (a bit like when they passed cakes and the like around the regions on Nationwide!).

The logo is quite clever too; the light and dark blue representing the north and south (of scotland) joining together. It does look a little 80's though, like the British steel logo or the early 80's bbc '2'.

A simple logo can be a good thing, easy to reproduce, easily remembered

Bobby Hain could be called a Mad Cow. STV, never mind Grampian, RIP has now been realised!
I also don't think that BH knows what he is wittering on about never mind Joe Public!!

Call me old fashioned, as Dame Edna would say, but I quite like it.

hi. Dunno if this has been said, but the url www.stv.tv takes you to the scottish tv site, and also, I really like the new look. It's not usual for Scottish to do good, but I think it to be much better than network ITV.
