Well that is exactly what they have done in Grampian land. It is now Flybe sponsors of Scottish Weather. So much for ONE brand, why not stv weather in the Grampian area. This is becoming very confusing.

Well the stupid thing here is at 1830 we got "Flybe sponsors of Scottish Weather" - I guess we must have got Scottish's cast offs!!

Is it me or do these look like they belong in the late 1980's / early 1990's

That "S" would have fitted well in the IT* triangle.

It was the first trailer broadcast today, after the all together Scotland catchphrase.

Grampian duty office promised that there would be a piece on North Tonight (Tuesday) looking back at Grampians 45 year history but as I thought nothing!! It is if they dont mention it no one will notice and bother us?

I hate to be harsh but all we got back in 2002 was the normal HTV ident but with a black background. The next day we woke up to a sub region called ITV1 for the West of England!

I myself think the STV graphics are lot more fresher then ITV's. At least you can read the text.

I had noticed complaints about STV not opting out of English coverage, but didn't clock that it extended as far as this particular ad.

Love the fact the STV programme there has a Gaelic name which looks like "f*** this".

Almost as good as the BBC2 Scotland programme Cunntas

Well, better than ITV1 but I still don't think it's any better than what we had before; the blue squares package looked slicker IMO and was a very nice design as evidenced in some of the logo-only newsy/sombre idents of that era, which has now passed us.

I maintain it does look fresh, but at its worst it makes the serious BBC ONE idents look like absolute masterpieces. Some scenes have some level of visual appeal, but others like the catwalk/model are just no-no.

The idea of passing the logo around generally seems unnecessary, kind of like a gimmick; it would probably look better if the logo was only shown in the 2D overlaid form, preceded by scenic shots. These such wide shots that do not focus on any one person, look the best.

My verdict at the end of the day: STV's new look is alright at best, if only due to comparatively poor ITV package (ITV1 is inferior, ITV2 and 3 are so-so).

That said, the ident with the bike & board tricking (which I haven't seen before just now) has a very nice final shot for the logo background; the variation of the soundtrack also sounded more high-energy with a dancey/techno synth running through it.
