Well if you already have ident fatigue then it's going to be a slow couple of years for you.

I love them. I like the energy, the music, the locations and the faces.

The slogan works for me.

I'm a happy viewer. I even entered Watch to Win as a celebration.

Sorry but to me, I don't like the on air package, it's boring and dull, they look like OK mocks from the Mock Design forum.

and I am tired of them already.....................

how apt

well they ain't bad. they have people in them but at least they're not just gormless morons with a logo slapped over like we've got in plc land.

Well I've got to disagree with what the general opinion is - I think it's all pretty rubbish. The breakbumper and next slide I saw on screen looks straight from PowerPoint and a bunch of people either moving or having thrust upon them an 'S' sign doesn't do it for me. I'd put it in the same league as ITV1's presentation.

I agree.

ITV PLC certainly scuppered the stv launch today, by transmitting a full ITV1 branded trailer at the end of GMTV. A seamless entry to a new stv ident, which I thought was the start of a Matalan commercial. Blink and you would have missed it, and you certainly could not hear what was being said, as the announcer who mumbles was doing the recorded voiceovers. That S or 5 as I think it looks like is ghastly, it is humongous. The idents look as though a primary school kid knocked them up on his pc.
I am sure there would have been less resentment in Grampian land if the station name changed to gtv, dtv, or etv. Viewers were led to believe that serious consideration was being given to the name change, until the MD of Scottish TV blew the gaffe by stating, stv is what everyone calls us, so we might as well make it easy on ourselves. This made the personnel issuing statements at Grampian look like either idiots or liars. In addition, thirteen weeks prior to the idea of using stv being mooted, the Chairman of SMG stated he believed more value could be extracted from the Grampian and Scottish brands in a multi channel universe. He said it would be important to develop the brand strength of what you have got. So what changed in the intervening three months?
The new idents will result in stv being perceived as cheap, nasty and so very tacky. They are not fit for the intended purpose as they lack the feel good factor. Could the next person that is handed the S, please throw it in the bin.

Scotland Today is on. Could someone please get a good shot of the weather slide?
It should be on in a couple of minutes. Very Happy
And that's it finished.
John Mackay just said: ''That's all from the stv newsroom'', sounds quite good.

Never mind that - who the hell is writing John Mackay's script tonight? The intros to the first two stories have been so long he's nigh-on collapsing half way through reading them.

Oh sorry.... well on the STV issue, SMG realised that everyone in central Scotland called it STV anyway. They figured that there was no point struggling on with two brands as it limited their branding and made them either come up with two different sets of promos or leave their brand out altogether (argh). They therefore presumably decided to focus on ensuring their brand was correct in the central belt, and hoped so few people up north have electricity that they wouldn't notice. :p (sorry)

No capturing facilties I'm afraid, sorry. It does look clumsy though - I don't understand why they couldn't have just left Scottish Weather on, even for Grampian. It's Scottish, and it's weather. Surely therefore it's Scottish weather?

In your opinion.

I think its important (especially for the out-of-region commentators) to remember what we had before. Scotland has never enjoyed the talents of the Central graphics department.

Bertie Basset was the best we ever had, and that was a lifetime ago.

The moving S is at least novel, and being wide and stylised it fills the frame nicely.

Whilst I wouldn't describe them as the most amazing idents ever they're certainly better executed than the ITV PLC idents. I quite like them I have to say.

My dad, who claims to me that he's been watching STV all night, has just pointed at the screen during the now and next slide and said: "What's that S for?" Laughing

Final proof that, sadly, for most people idents don't matter.

I just noticed her rather clever line,

"All together, Scotland, this is STV".

Altogether now... sing it to me!

So stv have a “new look”, that has an old name, a logo that bears a striking resemblance to the S British Steel used, and a catchphrase similar to Radio Clyde’s. Laughing
BTW, the announcer tonight on stv used to work at Radio Clyde. Perhaps she had a hand in the making of the jingle.

The whole thing reminds me of the Border TV story .Granada swallowed Border up we got bland and centralised presentation from Leeds by 2000.Although we saw Border on the idents it was all generic announcements from the Leeds announcers the old Border had gone .Just like Grampian when SMG took them over.

By 2000 we got ITV 1 it's been down hill ever since .I think with the STV rebrand they could have taken us viewers in South Scotland .Lucky i can watch on SKY.I like the new look much better than the ITV 1 look at least it is Scottish.

Ok I'm pissed off. Why the hell are STV (allegedly Scottish) taking the network advert for the world cup, which shows the goal from the 1966 world cup and a bunch of people cheering in front of an England flag? And why, beyond that, then put an S logo at the end?

Absolutely bloody incompetent. Do they not actually watch the network promos before they just shove a logo at the end?
