The thing is Channel 4 daytime is cheap, feels cheap and looks cheap. It’s the type of thing you feel the powers that be are happy to carry on with, as it’s convenient. I like Channel 4, I really do, but daytime is so weak, poor and unimaginative in comparison to the evening schedule. I’ve not seen The Steph Show yet so it’s not for me to say, but if you want it to impact then 12:00pm is not the right slot. Why not 3:00pm or 4:00pm?
Or at least why on earth not 12.30 instead 12.00?? Look to pick up viewers after This Morning who Loose Women doesn't much appeal to- there must be plenty of them- particularly at the moment they're only showing repeats anyway. Back that up with something strong afterwards, the Jamie Oliver show would probably do, then Countdown and you start to get a proposition that people might at least give a try. As it is, so far I haven't bothered giving it a look.
Think the only issue with the show at the moment is the lack of a hook to draw people in. I don’t think it’s clear what the show is. If it was on ITV in the Loose Women slot it’d be doing really well - I just don’t think people expect it to be where it is.
I mean basically it’s just filler that relies on Steph to carry it. That’s by no means a bad thing.
First time I've watched the Steph Show and I can see how they're doing the news cross.
Looks like the newsreader is sitting in front of the camera for a while before the bulletin and that is sent up to the house and displayed on the monitor at the house. Then at the appropriate time C4 cut to the studio which of course might be many seconds after what was on the screen in the house but it doesn't matter as its just a silent newsreader.
Though it was noticible today as Cathy Newman wasn't looking at the camera on the monitor when they cut to the studio

ITN MCR are sending a Skype feed of the studio output to the OB.
The show is to be "paused" from next Friday but they intend to relaunch it as the studio version it was meant to be at some point in the future.
FYI the show has been in a constant ratings race to the bottom with C5's repeats of films and Bargain Loving Brits in the Sun over the entirety of its run. This week it's been getting about 150k each day this week which is very terrible to put it lightly. Doesn't exactly bode well for the studio version.

But when they do relaunch will they even get the ratings they are desiring?
I watched it for the first time last week and I actually got into it but even when they can bring in a studio Channel 4 will have to give it sufficient time to bed it in. Also it may never reach the heights of Loose Women/This Morning ratings and they will just have to like it and lump it or not even bother doing it.
The last locked down version of #TheStephShow will be next Thurs 7th May. Then the plan is to launch again at our fancy studios at Leeds Docks in a couple of months, once they’re safely up and running.
