The Steph Show will be returning with a new name, Steph's Packed Lunch, a new time 12.30pm and will be 100 minutes instead of 60 minutes:

Still think they'd be better off trying it around 3pm considering there is so much live content around in the morning, but nothing after lunch.

Even the new name is as awful as its predecessor.

I agree it’s a terrible name. In it’s new time slot it’s no longer going up against This Morning but now going up against Loose Women.

It’s a better timeslot. At least it links with the ITV junction, so a choice for people who don’t like Loose Women (or a +1 choice for afterwards). 12-1 didn’t make any sense.

But yes, agreed that the afternoon would work better.

Do we really think this will last longer than the initial run? Isn’t it a box ticking commission from
C4?

Unless you can pull it off like Lorraine Kelly or Andrew Marr, then slapping your own name in the title of a programme looks rather narcissistic.

However, once you get after 3pm you're into 'school run' territory, and that will probably dilute her target audience.

I don't really get what her target audience is. The obvious target audience is surely watching Loose Women.

At that time you'd almost be using someone with her background for a Working Lunch type show - and indeed in current circumstances with many working from home that sort of show could indeed work again.

I do worry that it seems like they’ve created a show without first figuring out what it is and who it’s for. I think the initial series suffered from “tell us via Zoom how you’ve been coping with lockdown” fatigue, because they hadn’t really developed much of a format beyond that. A show that isn’t born out of necessity and purpose is doomed to failure.

That said, Steph is a talented broadcaster and has something of a Stephen Mulhern touch for turning a mediocre format into something vaguely watchable.

I’d have gone for 2-4pm personally, that’s where the other channels lose focus slightly.

It's also when a lot of the potential core audience is doing the school run
