Yes it's such a productive region in terms of famous faces, and I also loved the lighthouse look very much when I lived in Plymouth for a summer [and went on countless holidays down there].

A lot of regions broke away in 1962/3/4 time -- Wales is technically the oldest, and they celebrated last year, but Points West was also 40 today but Susan Osman and some other man only mentioned it in passing saying all the footage had been destroyed, then the man insulted Susan saying how long she'd been around for, and that was it. Poor Susan.

Clearly, the south west have more class.

Well Look East included a clip of Susan in her pre-Points West era in their tribute programme... ISTR that she was with BBC East around 1987?

Well I flicked down from Spotlight after they handed over to David Braine and his eighteen-minute weather forecast he's fond of doing for the south west. Susan and this man [not the charming Chris Vacher] were saying they had thirty years between them on the programme, but the man was really pushing home how long Susan had been there, tut, and the 'celebration' really was just in-passing for the country's *most watched* BBC regional news programme..

And yes, the clip Look East played of Susan was fabulous -- all that hair! I posted a pic of it buried somewhere in the LE thread. One day the doily *will* return to N24.

I missed it! What was shown, and does anyone have a capture of the relevant bits?
