The keying doesn’t look quite as on point as usual.

Nothing in the schedules for next weekend either. Worth noting that Sky have basically all but withdrawn from rugby union, bar Southern Hemisphere and the Lions. Nor would I say there is a guarantee of there being any deal, given the Top 14 haven’t been on U.K. TV for almost three years now. It would be a shame if there was none but Southern Hemisphere club rugby is in a bit of a state of flux at present and it might be difficult to do any sort of long term deal until things settle as far as the future structure of the competition is concerned.

Valid points re the Top-14, but there seems to be a little more "noise" on social meeja and a couple of rugby forums about Super Rugby, than I recall the French domestic leagues getting.

And the Autumn Nations Cup was very much a one-off, so I'd like to think there's some precedent for short-term deals. Time'll tell..

Maybe now. When Johnny Wilkinson was winning Heineken Cups with Toulon, and Johnny Sexton of course had a stint with Racing, there was quite a bit of U.K./Ireland interest in the Top 14 - the consensus at the time the last Sky deal ended was that the Ligue Nationale de Rugby overvalued their product and were willing to sit on the rights until someone paid what they thought the rights were worth - but at this stage you’d think they’d settle for less

Not sure if they've done this before, but Sky Sports News have just done a live linkup with Sky Sports Germany to build-up to the Leipzig-Liverpool match.

Not the first time, I've seen them do crosses to Sky Sport 24 in Italy as well.

Super Rugby really not looking good - numerous articles reporting no broadcast deal inplace for the start, although there's another week to go before the Kiwis (let's be honest, the real deal...) start.

I really can't fathom out Sky here to be fair... they've shown interest in the next bundling of Six Nations/autumn internationals, and the Sanzar contract fits nicely with that.

The value has undoubtedly fallen, and I dare say Sanzar are partly to blame in over-valuing the rights. I'm slightly surprised BT haven't shown an interest in the Kiwi rounds.

And the paying fan/subscriber loses out, while they all play hardball.

Super Rugby is useful filler for Friday/Saturday mornings, especially when thrown in with the internationals for next to nothing, but not worth bidding for when you have NRL in the same slots anyway.
Be nicer and more tolerant to each other. Them's the rules.

It's also a nice reward if you get up early on a Saturday, much like Aussie rules football on BT is.

Fair point to some degree, although I'm sure in the past they've occasionally put SR onto Mix when Action and/or Arena were otherwise busy.

I've seen another article reporting that Premier have offered a deal for the RFU Championship that's been turned down.

I wonder if a few rugby governing bodies have an overinflated opinion of their rights values and would (apparently) rather have no deal than a lower-price.

The Championships short term value in question to with the possibility of the Premiership being ring-fenced for a season or two.

The ring fencing won't be a temporary thing.

The RFU really doesn't give a sh*t about rugby below the money-making level.
