What are the BBC cameras like for today's FA Cup Final? Is it the same set up as last year's final?

Not sure what the BBC are adding on (looks like 3 pres cameras and a pitchside interview camera, then maybe their own superslow cameras and a few ISO cameras?) - BT Sport are the host broadcaster... Source

Does it have a proper theme tune like this

Nothing says 'someone in London has decided they know what Scottish people like' more than a bit of bagpipes on a theme tune. It really is embarrassingly clichéd.

It may be because I'm a fan of obscure Scottish indie music in general, but I was very pleased when I found out that BT Sport's theme tune (such as it is) for their Scottish football isn't a bit of library music, but a snippet of an obscure Scottish indie track released on Chemikal Underground.

Considering they seem to push watching online more than on broadcast nowadays you'd think they'd sort the clash of the BBC DOG on the stream and the BBC DOG on the scorebar out.

Not the first time they've had a DOG clash, remember when BBC One on digital had a DOG and a football match came along?

I assume in a couple of years time we'll be back to the situation of both the BBC and ITV airing the FA Cup Final live, and ITV no doubt being trounced by the BBC.

Well we are living in COVID times, but I do like the broadcasters are using more spaced out sets the camera framing is much better and you see the backdrop that much more.

Snooker is using an applause track when centuries and frames are won. Unlike in football, the players can hear this track rather than it being something for the benefit of tv viewers. I like it because its better than deathly silence, as long as they don’t spam the heck out of it.

See snooker is something that on the whole not having a crowd doesn't make a difference other than the big moments. Not seen it in use but that probably works well enough, just using it at the big moments rather than as an ambient noise throughout. Always makes me laugh though in snooker when they ask for silence throughout but then have no problem having two tables in one arena with one inevitably getting distracted by the other.

For me I just couldn't watch the FA Cup final with the crowd noise yesterday and had to switch to the natural version, which IMO should be the default. Similarly I had to give up on the Darts last week as I just found it to be white noise in a sport where the atmosphere is so important. I think there just relying on the drama of the "180" from the announcer and playing music as usual during the breaks, without the fake cheers throughout, would have been enough - and indeed much better.

I think they always start the first weekend in August.

Yes, this is quite usual for the start of the Scottish season, the first weekend in August. The other big news Scottish-wise this season is that BBC Scotland are showing Saturday night highlights for the first time in eighteen years, and at 7.30, just like The Premiership on ITV. That's on the BBC Scotland channel, not BBC1 Scotland.

Looks like Scotland are going to join the FA Cup final build-up half way through today.

Normally it would be Scottish Cup Final day, and as that's a 3pm kick-off in recent years they've shown both matches, with BBC Scotland joining the FA Cup Final coverage just before the kick-off. With the potential for them to join it in progress had the Scottish Cup Final gone to extra time.
