There must now be concern over next week’s CL and EL matches in Manchester now. Some announcements must be incoming.

Why must they be incoming? These tightened restrictions do not take us back beyond the 1 June lifting which allowed professional sport, as I understand it.

Footballers are immune aren't they? Presumably an exception for Real Madrid is already in place. Yes, I'm sure they'll remain in a bubble but so would other visitors from Spain. Guess it can be called a business trip.

Not the second legs of the R16 from March. Man City are due to host Real Madrid at their stadium, and Man Utd v LASK is due to be played at Old Trafford.

Because Manchester has additional restrictions.

ICDb is quite useful in this regard (though perhaps they ought to expand beyond football)

The more stringent restrictions in Leicester didn't affect the football there.

There's an exemption for International elite sportspersons and essential support staff participating in a UK elite sports event listed in the Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel) (England) Regulations 2020 (as amended)

Don't really get why outdoor racing and indoor snooker are in the same trial - surely racing (and F1) is ideal for trials with their large outdoor and crucially unlike stadiums, open, spaces.

Whilst whistfully looking at my unused ticket to Friday practice at Silverstone this year, to my left...

Actually, on race day with over 120,000 packed in - plus at least another 10,000 support staff, there wouldn't be enough room even with a 1+m social distancing rule.
You are packed in to the grandstands, leg and elbow room in some stands (Luffield, Stowe) are worse than some football grounds, and in the 'general admission' hard standing areas in front of the grandstands in the open air, it's not uncommon to see them 5 deep.
Way too close, and right now, running behind closed doors is the safest option.

But a trial wouldn't be 120,000 - it could be 12,000 quite comfortably, possible as many as 30k or 40k as around 1/3 seems to be the quoted capacity figure, but going straight to that would be irresponsible. Goodwood were going to have 4000 out of around 25,000.

Glad the snooker trial has been abandoned - that really did look irresponsible with the two tables in the one space making everything tighter than it should be. Even without the crowd it doesn't look like they have 2m space around the table, and though there is a screen the players being sat next to each other, and barely 2m from the table, isn't great. They really should have relocated the second table.

Tonight's Irish Cup Final at Windsor Park in Belfast will be the first football match played in the UK since March with some spectators. Ballymena and Glentoran have both been allocated 250 tickets for the final at the 18,500-capacity National Stadium at Windsor Park.

Jason confirms that Hazel Irvine isn’t presenting this year due to personal reasons. Best of wishes to her and her family Thumbs up

Also, the graphical scoreboard for table 2 is constantly disappearing after the match gets underway, hopefully they can resolve that technical issue soon.
