The World Cup 2022 schedule has been confirmed now, taking place from Mon 21 Nov to Sun 18 Dec, with four games a day during the group stages (10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm UK time), then knock-out games being at 1pm and 7pm, semi-finals at 7pm and the final at 3pm.

So that'll mess up Strictly and I'm a Celeb, though I imagine the latter will just move to early November and finish the night before the World Cup.

Instead of thinking whether matches should be FTA post lockdown, maybe it is time to start considering legit streaming services to have more games and possibly to broadcast every game in the Premier league especially with the streaming services being more value for money than a sky subscription

In an ideal world that would be the perfect solution but sadly this is not an ideal wold.

A "Premier League Network" would be a smash hit and would certainly be a kick in the teeth for Sky because their subscriber base would drop like a stone.

So, no games can be streamed via the 'PLN' against any game that is on Sky/BT/Amazon.
Full replays can be shown from the final whistle.
That would keep the broadcasting rights holders somewhat happier.

It is a delicate balancing act and one which I hope the EPL and broadcasters can find.

Something like the Championship ended up with might work.

Season ticket holders get access to all matches on iFollow/the club provided platform.

For matches that are not available via a broadcast partner, you can pay a tenner to watch on a PAYG basis.
Write that down in your copybook now.

Oh boy I wish we had that when we were in the Championship, listening to radio commentary of football matches is a bit crappy in this day and age.

That has only been since the resumption.

Although probably more suited to the international sport thread, Fox owns both World Cup and NFL rights in the US.

On the first sunday of the tournament, two games kick-off at 11 AM and 2 PM on the east coast - right as Fox usually starts it's pre-game show for the first one and 1 hour into a NFL game for the second kickoff.

The second sunday, a round of 16, has two kick-off's at 10AM and 2PM. A similar problem.

The main problem is... the final sunday is the World Cup Final. Kicking off at 10AM. Assuming injury time, water breaks(?), extra time, penalties and the trophy lift - along with a postgame show, that would certainly impact the kick-off's of the 1PM ET NFL games.

So we could potentially see those games moved to a later time, because I do not see Fox moving any part of the World Cup final to a cable channel. This would also affect Sky's picks of the games if the games, especially if CBS keep their kick-off times at 1PM.

I suppose they got lucky that the final matchday is right in the middle of the two week gap without a F1 race (between Hungary this weekend and Great Britain from the 31st), so they can put F1 to use. Do you know which channel is going to be a simulcast with Pick?

They are labelled 2019/20 Final Day 1-6 with the exception of Sky Sports Arena.
Sky Sports Premier League, Sky One and Pick all appear to be showing the same match - number 2.

Fox won’t be putting all the games onto the network, even if they didn’t clash with NFL. Any early matches that do they’ll put on FS1.

The final is trickier, but Fox only have double headers some weeks. When CBS had the US Open Tennis they used to ask / arrange for a single game week (in the early window) on the day of the Men’s final, so there is precedent.

If Fox arrange to have a single game week on the day of the World Cup Final they could have those in the late window (4:05pm / 4:25 ET) and use the final as a lead in. (Normally a single game would be in the early window in most areas.)

Those areas where the single game is in the early window could switch immediately to the NFL after a (post extra time and penalties) World Cup trophy presentation, with any NFL pregame show going on FS1. The rest of the affiliates (taking the single late game) stay with World Cup post match coverage. Simulcast the World Cup Final post game coverage on FS1 for those areas getting NFL.

If the World Cup Final finishes in 90 minutes the coverage runs straight in to the NFL pre game show that starts a little late.

(This is getting dangerously close to fantasy schedules here.)

If Sky are showing 6 matches, and BT Two matches, where are the other 2, non-televised?
