I expect this confirms Simon Thomas has been promoted to Premier League coverage replacing Ed Chamberlain. Also Kelly has confirmed on Twitter that she is still going 606 throughout the season and 5 Live Sport when required so she is only leaving Channel 5
David Jones is being promoted to replace Ed Chamberlin and will take over "Super Sunday" and "Monday Night Football". Simon Thomas will be presenting "Premier League Live", the Saturday lunchtime kickoffs, while Jeff Stelling will present "Friday Night Football".
Haley McQueen will be presenting the Saturday 3pm game in Ireland.

Presumably they finally decided that calling a programme that airs virtually every week "Football Special" (not to be confused of course with "Soccer Special", the version of Soccer Saturday that airs, er, when it's not Saturday) was a daft idea.
I'd also guess the Irish 3pms will also go under the "Premier League Live" banner (as indeed they were branded on Setanta).
Incidentally there is still no news on who has won the Irish highlights rights.

Gosh, who is this executive that loves glass/glossy effects? They must have been furious when the previous graphics appeared and were as flat as Sky graphics can possibly get.

Its on BT Sport 1 now - no hint to the in-game graphics (which we probably won't see on Sky and BT anyway) but what little graphics they are using are quite garish, colour wise. On the plus side, they are quite clean and modern, and employ the device of a menu bar which scrolls through club names back and forth before settling on the one their focussing on.
Another effect they are utilising is removing the "Premier League" text and using the lion symbol on its own, so that the title sequence first reads "Premier League", then the text is removed and the lion device remains, and the word "World" is added.

tonight's Premier League World (BT Sport 1, 6.45pm) is billed as Episode 1 - so if they were going to launch their new-style graphics, I'd imagine tonight would be a good time for it.

Sky's Saturday games have been branded Saturday Night Football for the last three seasons, not Football Special .

I think IMG Sports Media and PLP wont let us down. I think its going to be a sensational new bold look which I am hoping is strongly used by Sky and BT.

Presumably they were prevented from calling a programme 'Ford Premier League Live' as neither Barclays or the Premier League would have been happy.

They could have called it Premier League Live With Ford. ITV had a programme called The Premiership without the sponsors' name in it.

I think it would have ok but having said the premier league any to be identified as a clean brand like the Nba so maybe not

Just to expand on this point; I don't mind glossy graphics that are designed like that in mind, such as the BBC's Final Score graphics. But all they've done here is taken the previous, understated graphics and added a horrible sheen to everything. I can only guess as to why this has been done; maybe it's more on-brand or something. But it's nowhere near as nice as the original Sky Sports News HD graphics that were designed with these types of effects from the beginning.
