Cricket is coming back to Channel 4, they will be showing highlights of the upcoming World Cup...

Good news to see cricket back on Channel 4 even if i just a one off, some notes from the article Channel 4 are showing nightly highlights of the tournament and not what was reported in the Mirror of highlights of England only and the Semi Finals and the Final. Also coverage will be hosted by Isa Guha and produced by Sunset & Vine with Channel 4 also producing a documentary on the 2005 Ashes Series.

Also in other news the Rugby World Cup radio rights are staying with BBC Radio 5 Live & 5 Live Sports Extra

I’m not convinced they’ll use Mambo No. 5.

Why?
If Channel 4 take the S&V 'world highlights' package with no UK exclusive top and tailing for Channel 4, then maybe..
But Mambo Number 5 became popular very quickly - Channel 4/Sunset and Vine would be silly not to give it another airing as the theme with the sport back on the channel that moved coverage instantly forward by at least three decades when they got it off the BBC.

Talking of the BBC. Highlights can't be that expensive. I wonder why they did'nt go for them? Would be a great way of re-introducing the sport back, given they have exclusive live 'One Hundered' games from next season.
My user name might look like Hatton Cross, but it's pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove.

Probably outbid - C4 seem to have a bit of cash about now for some decent but lower profile events following the end of their racing coverage and now the scaling back of F1. I guess most of these will be shown in a post-11pm or midnight slot though.

As for this event, the highlights have moved about quite a bit. The BBC have certainly had them previously, and I think ITV4 has as well (though that might have been the away Ashes). Think they may have been on Pick too.
I preferred the internet when it had a sense of humour.

Last live FTA Cricket World Cup was the BBC/Sky effort in 1999, if I remember rightly there was no FTA coverage of 2003, 2007 & 2011 were on the BBC as was the 2006/07 Ashes and 2009 World T20. 2015 was on ITV Sport. Where you may be getting confused is the away Ashes series which has moved from BBC to ITV to Pick to BT Sport Showcase for FTA rights.

BBC have still got the online rights and radio commentary therefore still covering it, yes I agree it would of made sense for the BBC to have TV highlights and they could have further promoted the fact they have the hundred and all the England highlights from Channel 5 but Channel 4 outbid them, according to this article on some of the BBC plans for next year Channel 4 put in a serious bid for the ECB rights but they went with the BBC.
