Visually the opening titles look great but the theme isn't a patch on what it replaces. Not too sure about the graphics either - I was hoping for a bit more to be honest as I wasn't a huge fan of the last set (preferred the old green/red look) and these don't seem to drastic a departure from them. Good to see some graphics 16:9 safe, but most remain 4:3 safe.

A reminder that BBC Alba's first live SPL game, Inverness CT v, Ross County, is on Wednesday 2nd January 2013 at 3pm, KO 3.05, Bet they are delighted with the Inverness side being the SPL's surprise package so far this season, currently second behind Celtic. BBC Alba opening early for the purpose.

Announced today, on the eve of the 2013 BDO world darts, is that the BBC has secured the rights to the BDO World darts championships right up until 2016. Last year, and this year, the coverage is shared with ESPN. However, there's no mention of ESPN in this new deal.

Unsurprising really given the liklihood of the channel folding / downsizing massively at the end of their football and rugby contracts.
I remember mentioning this last year, and they're at again it this year - the graphics, whilst 99% in the new BBC Sport font, use the old Zurich font for the "No possible out" slug.
Sloppy.

Yes, it's quite vague - you'd think if the BBC had regained it exclusively they'd say so. I wonder then if the BDO is still looking for a BBC/pay TV split, but has yet to get a pay TV company on board as the future doesn't seem to be looking to bright for ESPN.

Unprecendented apology for some vociferous commentary during the FA Cup 3R match between Mansfield and Liverpool on ESPN yesterday ....
