The contract with C4 does seem to be quite strange - C4 is still years behind Sky with new episodes but can only screen one "new" series a year - and they seem to be repeating the same few series over and over again, which I doubt they are doing out of choice!

I think part of it is that they don't remember *what* they've shown because C4, just like BBC2 and Sky One, don't show it in chronological order. The Simpsons is a BIG series. This September is going to start it's 17th consecutive series. To date, 356 episodes of The Simpsons have aired. You could run an episode a day, every day for a whole year without a single repeat.

Even if C4 only show the 'old' episodes (which I term to mean pre-2000), they can still run it 235 times - more episodes than they show in a year at present, without repeating anything.

Yet because UK broadcasters seem not to want to show it on order, they inevitably end up giving some episodes more than their fair share of airings (particularly those from seasons 3 and 4) whilst others are almost never shown, and I'd wager a signficant amount of money that C4 have repeated episodes numerous times despite having a load that they can show but never have.

The Simpsons should just stop altogether, its too old, they should start showing Family Guy on C4 again.

I don't know, they can still write some great material some times. But, I do feel that the concept of 'susbending your disbelief' is being taken somewhat to extremes - Maggie should now be 17, Lisa 25 and Bart 27!

I think the Simpsons has run its course. The new episodes IMO are just not as good story wise as the original first few seasons episodes are.

But the old ones (which are good) are shown too often, and really they can't make good plotlines anymore:

Mr. Lisa Goes To Washington: Lisa writes an essay
Flaming Moes: Homer makes a drink and Moe robs it

Yes, the episodes have their moments, but think about it, they aren't good.

And, why can't they think about the customers for once, not just the ratings. And at least show a caption or something?

Who the F*** make the ratings if it's not the customers?! Laughing

This has to be one of the funniest post for a long time!

Yeah... and, anyway - "customers"?!

If they took the cricket off to show a repeat of the Simpsons, great show as it is, Horseferry Rd would probably be burnt down!

Any hard-core Simpsons fan will either have the DVD's or a subscription to Sky One to see it, not to rely on Channel 4 repeats, which have been shown ad nasuem on BBC Two aswell as Channel 4 and Sky One.

IMO Channel 4 were right to drop The Simpsons in favour of the Cricket on Monday, as they would have got more complaints if they dropped out of the cricket at a crucial point.

I think Terrestrial TV can go without The Simpsons for 2 whole days! When it was on BBC1 it only used to be once a week!

lol

I didn't mean it in that way, so much as I meant that they should have put up an announcement to apologise for the Simpsons not being shown

Did today's episode have technical problems? The sound kept on going.

Thats very true actually. They didn't announce about Hollyoaks being moved (we can argue if thats a good thing later Laughing ) until the ident before Channel 4 news, even though the announcer had a couple of opportunities at the end of the cricket coverage.
