There also had Craigkelly and Davel,

And Torosay which covers the inner Hebrides, Oban, Fort William and the extreme southern tip of Barra. Wink

Torosay is/was SHF from Black Hill.

According to a BBC links diagram analogue BBC 1 and 2 were fed by SHF from South Knapdale, but the South Knapdale incoming feed was just off air UHF from Black Hill.

No idea how STV and 4 analogue were fed ?

When I was at STV, Darvel was an RBL (rebroadcast link = received from parent station and rebroadcast) of Black Hill, as was Craigkelly. Torosay was fed from South Knapdale (which was RBL Black Hill) via a brief SHF hop. There was a morning in the mid 80s when Black Hill was going to be off for a lengthy peiod for maintenance and the IBA set up temporary SHF links to Darvel and Craigkelly so that schools programmes could be maintained to some parts of central Scotland. Channel 4 had the same feed pattern. In the digital world, more main stations are now 'line fed' (by fibre) but there are still quite a few RBLs around - including Darvel, which in turn feeds Rosneath (now classed as a main station) but not Torosay and Craigkelly which are line fed.

We hadn't had one of these incidents for years, when was the last show to be done in reduced circumstances?

That European football match that fell off air being replaced by the radio commentary and BBC One apology caption. Complete with unnecessary continuity announcements stating the obvious.

That's actually quite common on breakfast opt outs, the first one of the morning in particular is the most likely to be missed. There'll usually only be 2 or 3 people working on them and if one over sleeps then it can't happen.

I remember about ten years ago Football365 talking about Sky Sports News that morning where Kirsty Gallacher was broadcasting with lank hair and no makeup, then after the ad break they showed a recording from earlier, before Kirsty popped up again now looking pristine. Clearly she'd turned up late.
