The 'Irish Thread' has been archived so I set up this new thread for future discussion of RTÉ. Discussion of TV3 is available in 'The TV3 Thread'.

On RTÉ One, RTÉ Two and TG4 analogue a new corner bug warning of the analogue switch off date has been recently added.

Nothing much exciting going on pres-wise at RTÉ at the moment really.

RTÉ One's current set of idents, which are heading for six years straight use now, are the longest set it has had since 1986 and the longest idents either RTÉ channel has used since the iconic 1988 Network 2 ident which lasted 7 years (and even that had a soundtrack change midway through).

Meanwhile over on RTÉ Two, there's been a new programme promotion design being used recently, with bigger promotion of RTÉ Two HD now that it has finally made it onto cable and Sky.

I rarely watch TG4 other than for rugby, so I don't really keep track of what they are doing pres-wise.

They're using the official presentation for everything games wise, unlike the BBC who are using their own graphics for studio stuff and commentators names. Their opening titles are rather good (albeit with very understated music), they don't look like an RTÉ creation (and there's nothing particularly Irish about them) but they are not the OBS titles that have been posted elsewhere so I guess they are an RTÉ creation.

Nice set being used by RTÉ last night for the opening ceremony, though Peter Collins was in one of the regular studios in Montrose this morning.

Here's a couple of images of the RTÉ studio courtesy of the Eurovision Sport Player.

The presenter seems to be the Irish Fern Britton.

The set looks very nice.

Is the RTE studio in London?

Is the RTE studio in London?

I'm assuming that one is in Dublin. But a small one at Lund Point has been posted.

She is in fact English - Tracey Piggott, daughter of jockey Lester, whose usual RTÉ gig is (perhaps unsurprisingly) horse racing.

By the looks of the set is in Dublin. They effectively have two sets beside each other in the one studio, as Peter Collins showed us when he handed over to Tracey Piggott earlier. That's what confused me about the studio - it seems a lot larger than what RTÉ Sport normally use.

There is a studio in London that Sharon Ní Bheolan presented from for RTÉ News yesterday (despite the prominent RTÉ Sport branding behind her).

She looks like a cross between Fern Britton and Ruth Langsford.

It seems they are now streaming primetime RTE One on the RTE Player internationally , obviously only programmes they have rights for outside of Ireland.

I believe this is a new thing?

TG4 has launched a new look today. Just 1 new look ident - all other miscellaneous presentation has been updated with a black / grey gradient theme. A new corner bug has been introduced.
