Not an insignificant musical guest if he was actually producing actual music of the sort made by the artists listed in the above message rather than annoying ranting about nothing into a microphone. I ended up saying "Oh shut up!" and switching over to Michael Portillo bore on about American railways on BBC Two!

Good quality popular music is dying out, if rap (with a capital C) from the likes of Tinie Tempah is the most popular type of music, especially when we lost so many great music artists during 2016 ... David Bowie, Prince, Glenn Frey, George Michael ... etc . . .

That said, as much I dislike hip-hop "music" (with a small number of exceptions) if Tinie Tempah is that popular, then The One Show is a vaild TV vehicle to appear on. I didn't catch his "engaging chat" in the studio, but I'm sure I won't have been the only viewer that would have tuned in during or shortly before his performance, and had the same or similar thoughts as I did, although there won't have been many switching over to The One Show from a session of GTA Online!

Tinie Tempah's a 'chav'? No, far from it. Just because someone raps it doesn't make them a chav.

I think the main problem is that you're getting older.

Every generation thinks the music after theirs is "crap". And no, you're not any more right about today's music being crap then your parents were when they said what you listened to was a noise.

Don't think DJGM was saying he hates all new music, just that he doesn't like hip-hop/rap

But there's not liking a form of music, and there's calling one of it's most successful artists a "shouty muppet ranting about nothing in a way that appeals only to braindead chavs".

Yep, that's just ridiculous and offensive

My sentiments exactly - fine not to like the likes of Tinie Tempah and Stormzy, but stereotyping and attacking those who like that kind of music is just morally repugnant. It's essentially shoehorning personal opinion on others.

I wonder if he's even heard his music rather than just judged based on appearances.

I think there's a rather unworthy and unjustified implication (deliberate or not) against DJGM lurking in your post.

There's no reason to believe his dislike is based on anything other than the music being performed.
