Also, RT says that The One Show will be on BBC HD when it returns next week. Earlier than I expected!

I think we all knew Christine Blakely wasn't going to return but that story makes a few other things clear. I think DigitalSpy only published that story because they published a stupid one earlier based on a The Sun story saying that Bleakley might be returning to the show.

So we get an old style The One Show (although it appears it will be in HD) with guest presenters for a while and then a [perhaps subtle] relaunch with at least 3 new presenters next month. I just hope for the BBC's sake that none of the male stand-ins are too good.

Not really a surprise. At the end of the last programme Christine said: 'we'll be back in July, in HD'

Two parts to be fair, it is July and it will be in HD!

Louise Minchin and Matt Baker for Monday's show according to the Sky EPG and the BBC Programme page

I'm guessing then we can rule out any of the guest hosts as permanent replacements.

I think it's a shame that the BBC are making this a bigger thing than it should be. Now don't get me wrong Jason Manford and Chris Evans are great presenters but they are bigger than the show it's self. The reason why Adrian and Christine work was because there were not bigger than the show, And as a result made the show the success it is today. I do think they be great on daybreak but because the show bigger (as it was GMTV), it may fail or may not be as big as they like. I not sure who said it but I think Alex Lovell and Matt Baker would be great replacements and would keep the show on the right level to what it is and would keep building the show's profile. Shame the BBC have to copy ITV here and take a well know show and make a big song and dance about it. STOP COPYING AND SORT IT OUT BBC!!!

In what way? The BBC don't seem to be making anything of it at all. The fact that it's just creeping back on air on Monday with little fuss shows that

It's just a shame that both of them thought they were. The BBC offered them the best they could - both were given big shows to present apart from The One Show - but they decided that the changes to the show weren't for them!

Exactly. The BBC are making as little fuss as possible about this. The tabloid press are the people filling their pages with it...

I think that oversimplifies things. I think that the BBC needs to learn from this as well. At the moment there is not a huge amount of talent management experience in the upper echelons of the corporation.

Mark Thompson (DG), Mark Byford (Dep DG), Jana Bennett (Head of (Tele)Vision), Jay Hunt (Controller of BBC One) at the BBC are all from a news and current affairs or documentary factual background - with little direct experience of managing talent.

Peter Fincham and Michael Grade at ITV are from a much more talent-centred background...

Isn't that why Alan Yentob was brought in during the Bleakley negotations ?
