Funny, so am I. Chie's offering me big rewards to pair up with him, and not those of the financial kind.

He says big; I suspect its more average.

Chris Evans' travel reporters from his radio show might be interesting for the 'Friday girl' ?

Sally Boazman, and/or Lynne Bowles ?

Or big Moira?

Good thinking !!

Actually is it me, or by having Moira Stuart as his 'news girl' is Evans trying to create a British, 'Stern/Quivers' radio partnership ? Wink

It will be interesting to see how the One Show fares now it's lost both its main anchors. I've never thought much of Adrian Chiles so he was no loss to me but I did warm to Christine on the occassions where I saw the One Show. As for replacements for Christine I definitely think Penny Smith would be a great addition to the show. She has the personality for it and I can see her working well with Jason Manford. Fern Britton would be a disaster, she is far to 'mumsy' for that type of show. Another person who springs to mind is Jane Hill. She has a great sense of humour and would certainly add to the show.

As much as I like Jane, I don't think she'd be suited to the show. I don't think any newsreader would be for that matter - unless they go for someone like Penny who, while a newsreader by trade, is also a presenter and well known personality. But while I suspect Penny is the right way to go I'm not sure I'd bet money on her getting it.

Actually I think Susanna Reid would do well on the show and Louise Minchin was not bad when she guest presented.

You got to love the Daily Star :

More than 30 sexy stars are interested in replacing the gorgeous brunette, who has left the BBC to join ITV.

Singer Myleene Klass, 32, who had a stint on BBC1’s flagship magazine programme in 2007, is bookies’ favourite for the job.

But others in the frame include Emma Bunton, 34, Melanie Sykes, 39, and even troubled reality star Kerry Katona, 29, who would relish a regular prime-time slot.

It seems that sentence is applicable to any job going on television these days.

"Nick Robinson to join Radio Four"
Singer Myleene Klass, 32, is bookies’ favourite for the job.

"Anne Robinson quits The Weakest Link over hygiene concerns"
Singer Myleene Klass, 32, is bookies’ favourite for the job.

"David Cameron quits as PM"
Singer Myleene Klass, 32, is bookies’ favourite for the job.

It does get rather tiring. I also don't believe that bookies are stupid enough to genuinely believe it.

That just proves how incompetent the Daily Star's journalists are, doesn't it?

Would the BBC want to do a swap though? If ITV are replacing Kate or Penny with Christine, it would look a bit like the BBC were picking up ITV's cast offs wouldn't it?

It's a really tricky role to cast - mainly because Christine and Adrian effectively created the template.

To directly replace Adrian and Christine two people on the sofa who can go from discussing extreme Islam and interview the Prime Minister with some semblance credibility, to dressing up in silver Lycra and re-creating Hole in the Wall outside the studio in the depths of winter, without taking themselves at all seriously...

Obviously a new pairing will bring something new to the role - and may not do things the same way - but if you're casting the show ask yourself you need to be able to see them doing serious stuff credibly, and funny stuff without taking themselves too seriously.

I think the nearest equivalent is Blue Peter - which is probably why Matt Baker did so well when he stood in - but neither Zoe Salmon nor Katie Hill are right for it (though sadly I could have seen Caron Keating doing it very well).

Just saw that Chris Evans wants Gavy Roslin with him on the one show friday edition.

So I can see them separating it. Jason and ???? Monday to Thursday and Chris and Gaby on Friday.

My Money would be on a Female BBC News reader or Penny Smith for Monday to Thursday.

Stupid enough to get punters to back her when she's not going to get the job?
