However, I can't see them getting a big name for it, especially after the fuss around Bleakly's proposed pay. It's a good opportunity to get someone new (and therefore cheap) onto network TV, just like they did with Christine.

There is a difference though - Christine was very inexperienced when she started but was sat next to Adrian who had 13+ years of live broadcasting experience.

Whoever replaces Christine will be sat next to Jason Manford (who was probably still at school when Adrian started on-screen?), who is relatively young and very new to live broadcasting (he did Tonightly but hasn't done huge amounts of live stuff as presenter). That's very different to the situation Christine was in when she started.

I wouldn't be surprised if they looked for someone with a 'safe pair of hands' level of live broadcasting experience to sit next to Jason - and even more so next to Chris Evans on Fridays? The issue with finding new people with this level of experience is that almost all of them are from regional news backgrounds - and that probably isn't right for The One Show unless they are truly exceptional and haven't been "regional news-ised"?

I guess they could also do different things on Mon-Thu and Friday as well - though who knows?

The tabloids were suggesting Mylene Klass this morning.

Mylene was presenting the show before Christine, ISTR. What was the reason she never returned after her maternity (it was maternity, wasn't it?) leave?

I believe she wanted the flexibility to do a bigger variety of programmes that a daily 7pm show wouldn't have allowed her to do.

Well I predicted this would be Louise Redknapp's "celebrity year" over on Metropol.

Sounds about right to me.

That is very good point. The problem though is that now the programme is high profile and any good experienced female presenters will command a high fee which will be controversial.

Yes and there's not really a regional non-news training ground except in the 'nations' these days.

There's absolutely no reason why they couldn't have a pool of presenters and use 2 a day in various combinations (a bit like '5s Company' used to do if anyone remembers that)

Oh blimey, no. She's awful on Something for The Weekend... such an airhead too (and I know this sounds harsh but she's not the looker she was in her pop star days)

Although you could be onto something with the weekend idea, Julia Bradbury must be in with a shot

I didn't say she'd be any good. And to be honest there's a lot of casting going on which doesn't appear to be based on ability - even at the Beeb.

But she's definitely in the ascendant from a Celebdaq point of view.

Dani Sinha ? BBC South, then London, now South again.

Perhaps too 'newsy', but no problem with the mechanics of presenting, and I'd say her news presenting ability is of network quality.

She's actually appeared on The One Show as a reporter a couple of times, once as a live inject from an OB.
