Be interesting to see if he's replaced on Countryfile or not.

He was the only choice really and a good one. Also because he's an experienced TV presenter some of that will rub off on Alex in the same way that Chris Evan's influence is noticable on her on Fridays

Was Matt not briefly a reporter with the original Birmingham-based pilot of The One Show?

Yes - he presented a series of reports across a week on the Lifeguards in the South West (I think) called Seaside Rescue (I think). Mix of filmed items and live OBs. A bit like the pilot's 'Street Doctors' it was a short version of a 30 minute show.

Matt Barbet officially confirmed, apparently, according to Digital Spy. At least this time there are official quotes from them and a publicity shot.
