I don't like what they have done to the studio, in terms of lighting, in recent weeks. Since the show came back off their summer break, the coloured strips/tubes/bars/blocks that make up the set behind the presenters, were nice warms colours that complimeted what is left for us to see outside. Recently however, the colours have changed to reds, blues, purple which looks quite intrusive imo. I hope they brings back the orange, yellow, green scheme that the show had until late.

Don't they do that every winter though when it gets dark around 7ish? Reds, blues purples in the Autumn/Winter and orange, yellow, green in the Summer? Wink

I think Matt Baker is a great presenter of the show; but I suspect he enjoys Countryfile too much, which is possibly why Jason Manford got the gig instead?

I think your right, if he didn't do Countryfile he probably wouldn't have anything to do with The One Show.

He is better off sticking with Countryfile than The One Show in case it is dropped/changed

Yep - in the summer they go for paler colours (not much choice with daylight streaming through the windows) and they move to a more saturated scheme for the shows when it is dark outside. It's been like this ever since they launched pretty much (once they calmed the look down initially)

Personally I prefer the saturated look used in the darker months.

In one way it's a real shame as he was doing really well on The One Show and after hearing him talk about it on Carpool (on Dave) the other week he was obviously really enjoying it as a job.

On the other hand there was always going to be a clash between the One Show gig and his comedy career, certainly he had commitments which took priority over TOS hence he was a no show fairly often. The recent revelations are just part of that... you've got to be squeaky clean to be on such a flagship show

As for a replacement, surely Matt Baker has to be a shoe-in for the job once he stops dancing?

Westy2
Frankie Boyle for the job.

I'd definetely watch it then.

(Wonder if Gaunty will put in for the job? Watch the figures go down if he does!)

I am 50/50 about him leaving but I do think Matt Baker should get the job but I think he just signed for the Strictly Come Dancing tour so unsure about whether he would get the job. If this is the big thing in the sun tomorrow I wonder how much air time it will get on Daybreak. Hmm....?

Rather see Russell Howard TBH. Peter Andre Maybe? Or even Mike Brewer?

I think the last thing they want is another comedian!

The problem they've had is that the most experience presenter out of Jason and Alex was Alex... and that experience was minimal. Getting in an experienced live TV presenter would be a stable influence on the programme and help Alex out. Remember that Jason Manford was originally hired to present next to Christine.

Matt Baker, Matt Alright and Chris Hollins have all done it in the past, any of them would be great replacements, although as has been demonstrated over the past year, the presenters are largely irrelevant to the success of the programme.
