One bad programme shouldn't lead to cancellation. They already had their summer break. They came back two weeks ago and it has generally been very good, that is why the programme today stands out as a bad one in my eyes.


What ever happened to that Wednesday one hour show? has that gone out the window?

I thought the one hour show was supposed to be on Fridays?

I'm sure it was mid week, as I was thinking BBC Scotland wont like that mucking up it lineup

They tried it first on a couple of Wednesday shows. But it is Friday's that will be 1 hour, especially once Chris Evans begins.

Does this not prove the BBC has run out of good ideas? ( just like ITV )

The One Show initially trialled hour long shows on Wednesday for about 4 weeks in April or May last year, and then did them every Friday later last year up until Christmas. They did well against Corrie - holding the bulk of their half-hour audience for the full hour.

I think it was announced that Chris Evans would do hour long Friday shows when he and Jason started, and most people expected this to be after the World Cup break. In fact on the final show before the World Cup Christine effectively said Jason and Chris would be joining her when the show returnd...

Except that Christine then moved to GMTV...

However it appears that they are waiting to find a permanent replacement for Christine before Jason and Chris start.

According to some Sky News people on twitter, the name of the new female host for The One Show will be revealed at midnight.

My money is on Melanie Sykes. You heard it here first Laughing
