What happened at the very start of todays show? (January 2008)

Did anyone see what happened at the start of The One Show this evening? After the BBC One ident (the helicopter one) I saw a couple of seconds of what looked like a carpet and people walking about. Did anyone else see this or better yet record it?

Its not on IPlayer yet and they will probably edit that out anyway.

Yes, I thought it was a bit odd, with that camera on the floor, they may have left the camera on, and the feed was what goes out to us, was a bit late on switching to the studio

This is now on IPlayer but annoyingly they cut the first few seconds out. Why would they bother to do that? If there is someone working on IPlayer with nothing better to do, why don't they take off the Christmas idents instead of making pointless edits like this?

Did anyone record the show themselves?

To be fair, I don't think they did it thinking, 'mwuhhahaha, this will annoy that lot on TV Forum', just it looks very unprofessional.

Why don't they take their Christmas idents off IPlayer then? Thats unprofessional and unlucky, probably.

Mmm, depends if you believe in luck. Sure, the casual viewer won't even realise there is a difference between Christmas pres and normal pres.

Looked like BBC One presentation cut to the OS with Watchdog on it rather than the OS with The One Show on it...

I don't think it is a case of "editing" (i.e. purposefully altering a programme), it is a case of someone having to decide where The One Show starts and stops. If I was making that decision I would make it start with the titles, not a camera shot on the floor.

AIUI iPlayer loading of live shows is not automatic.

(However it does indicate that they are loaded from a feed of BBC One rather than the clean outside source - which kind of makes sense as it is easier to record one feed than track and record many. However it presumably causes problems if Pres do long mixes into their programmes...)

What happens with the Nations clean feed during live programmes? Could that be used to derive the iPlayer feed?
