Not the best ever tonight, not The Office at it's finest, though apparently the better stuff happens tomorrow, but all the stories revolving around David have been very funny, otherwise pratically everything else is serious. But the celebrity dating thing is very funny, with David being up against Bubble from BB2 and the guy off the Halifax adverts is very very funny, David at his finest.
And don't worry Peter Kay will be back on TV in 2004, but I am more of a Phoenix Nights person myself.
But so far its been good, beats yesterdays Only Fools and Horses.
I thought it was getting a bit repetitive by the end of the last series, and tonight's episode makes me think it's probably best that they're ending it now.
I was quite looking forward to tonights episode but was rather disappointed. There were a few little highlights but for the majority it was yawnsville for me.

To be honest I watched it and the only bit I actually giggled at was when that guy from Love Actually locked that Skeletal looking bloke in his office.
I get the feeling that The Office is just one of those things that has been so ridiculously hyped and there really isnt anything to it, bar a 'Comedian' who has got far too big for his boots.

Likewise, but because Phoenix Nights is not PC and its not 'trendy', it gets sod all plaudits compared to something that has been declared by the BBC as a 'much watch'.
Its a bit like putting Bernard Manning and Ben Elton on at two adjacent theatres. You can bet your bottom dollar that Bernard would sell out quicker than Mr Socialist Millionaire......

Two points, both couldn't be more wrong IMHO.
Phoenix Nights, like The Office and Alan Partridge is hugely overhyped, by the 'trendy' press. Those three are hyped up as the only saving graces of British comedy, when, although good other programmes such as Absolute Power, tlc, Black Books and Coupling [admittedly it did, deservedly win Best Sitcom at the British Awards this year], are both largely better or atleast as good.
I'd also have thought that Ben would easily outsell Bernard...
I think it's a shame how people seem to miss that The Office is more of a comedy drama than just a pure comedy. The idea isn't to make you constantly laugh. Tonights episode was to show how the lives of the characters have progressed. I reckon Saturday's episode will be the killer.
Did anyone notice how Dawn started off quite serious, and then as she was sitting in the airport, the smile returned and the jokes started flowing.
Boxing Day's episode was more drama than comedy. It's the facial expressions you have to look for. It's all very subtle. It's a shame it these last two are on BBC One as it's clear these episodes are meant for those who have followed the programme from the very first episode. People watching it for the first time simply wouldn't know what was going on.
I thought it was wonderful and look forward to Saturday.

Yeah but if it was a comedy drama, surely it was worth more than one laugh? (As said previously, there was just one juvenile funny moment.)
