Just thought I'd mention that series two / version 2.0 of the IT Crowd returns to Channel 4 this Friday night. According to the commentary on the DVD it can be pronounced as either 'it' or 'I.T.' so who knows how continuity will refer to it this series.

A couple trailers for series 2...

I've only just started to get into the show thanks to the repeats on Channel 4. I'm not a raving fan, but it's something i'll be watching on Friday.

Personally, I call it I.T - I mean, what's the show about? Rolling Eyes
The trailers pronounce it I.T so I expect the announcers to call it that too.

The menus on the first DVD are lovely. They have recreated 80s Spectrum Computer Games. Jet Set Willy is one good example.

Yeah, i've always seen it as a play on words. I've always called it the I.T. Crowd but it was just a joke that it looked like 'The IT Crowd' - in that they always wanted to be The IT Crowd, but never could or would be.

I've found myself spending quite a bit of time watching the menu sequences to see what happens.

The 'Leet' subtitles are amusing for episode one where they're not a direct translation of the show. For instance "Sending emails, receiving emails, deleting emails" becomes "SMTP, POP, M$ Exchange". Admittedly much of the subtitle jokes are for IT geeks, though they are a good laugh.

I swear the trailers pronounced it as 'it' when the first series aired last year but it's changed to I.T this year.

I thought the episode on Friday was surprisingly hilarious.

Yes they did say ''it'' last year but they changed it this year. Perhapps related to the word ''it'' being used by Charley from this years Big Brother as she is a south london it girl!

Is it me or was last fridays episode not as humourous as the first season?

I agree, though last Friday was alright I didn't find it as good as series 1. The Richmond scene with "oh look Richmond's still alive" line seemed rather forced with his appearance being for the sake of proving him still being in the series.

I'm not sure about last series but I gather this series doesn't have any co-writers. Maybe it was due to most of the episode being away from the office it that made it seem less amusing. There was also some notable set changes in the main IT room (and lighting) which made it seem different.

Maybe the rest of the series will match up to series 1.

Funny actually, most people i know are of the opinion (of which i share) that the first episode was funnier than the whole of Series 1 put together. And that's not an insult to Series 1 as it was great, but the first episode was bloody hilarious in every way. Although i do agree about the Richmond scene. He also played it differently too. In the first series he was a lot more mysterious, but here he was just a normal bloke with a funny voice and weird makeup, hey ho!

I also noticed the distinct set and lighting change. The office doesn't seem to have as many 'props' in it this time around, it looks slightly empty Smile
