Unfortuantly TV3 will be withdrawing its current presentation in Jaunuary 2011, a major new advertising campaign will run for the channel from early next year which will involve new idents. There will only be 1 more ident produced with the current 3 as an every day object in an every day situation theme, for the Christmas 2010 season. 3e will be keeping its current presentation. Which is a surprise as this means TV3 will have been refreshed 3 times during 3e's current presentation.
I am quiet disappointed that TV3 is getting a new look as the current batch had a great theme - very like bbc2 in the 1990's.

Looks like there might be storm clouds brewing at RTE, found a twitter thread called RTEInsider, who tweeted the following...

RTEInsider The story - three former senior figures have got together and produced a major 3 part tv series that premieres in 2011, along with a book. This 15 year project, yes it took that long !,lifts the lid on what happens behind the gates at Montrose, in a way that is truly shocking. It will stun viewers and listerners, uses unprecendented access to documents, emails, memos and recordings. This site will tease some of the stories featured in the series in a wicked whisper type of way, and will have you guessing.
Could be a fascinating series for all us telly fans

I'd be sceptical that such a series exists based on one Twitter post. RTÉ themselves are unlikely to air a series and TG4 would not either. TV3 might, but if it existed, I'd imagine a print journalist would have got hold of the news and a story would have ran in the print media about it.
And even if it did exist, I'd imagine RTÉ would be down the High Court fairly quickly to get an injunction to stop it airing.
Incidently, I've just done a search on Twitter and can't find the tweet you refer to.

Maybe it's on another broadcaster - who knows
Tweets definitely still there - he/she's made ten tweets, has a picture of a transmitter as the profile pic - twitter.com/rteinsider
Sceptical too as you say the Irish press would be over it like a rash, still be interesting to see where if anywhere it goes

Saorview, to explain to our UK readers, is the Irish DTT service which "soft-launched" last Friday. What does that mean? Well, it's the same as the trial DTT service thats been running, but,er, has a website. It now has coverage over most of the population.
The name Saorview comes from the Irish "Saor" meaning free. and the English "view", meaning, er, view.
It has the amazing channel line-up of....the existing analogue channels. Plus the aforementioned RTÉ News Now, which fails the Ronseal test. You see, RTÉ News Now is just the last RTÉ News TV bulettin repeated ad infinum until the next one airs. Which, since no news bulettin airs between Saturday 9pm and Sunday 6pm, can be fairly old. Its not a rolling news channel at all despute what RTÉ might claim it to be.
Oh yes, the DAB radio stations are available on it too.
Getting serious for a moment - given all of the above, how the Irish government intends to achive analogue switch-off is a bit of a mystery. You see, after taking twelve years to get DTT up and running from when the initial decision to introduce it was announced, they are offering a service that at present offers very little over the existing analogue service. We're told Euronews and 3e may be added at some point prior to official launch in the Spring, but we're not sure. Thanks to our decision to adopt MPEG-4 instead of MPEG-2, most non-HD Freeview kit (which is readily available in Ireland) is useless. There's currently only one approved STB and it costs over €100.
Oh, and the government expects to achieve ASO by 31/12/12...

Noel Curran gets the hot seat at RTÉ. As expected, another internal appointment (more or less, he had been doing consulting work for the last six months or so...)

They pulled forward the Week in Politics last night too, although they didn't seem to actually extend it. Cynics might point that this put it straight up against the Vincent Browne special at 22:30. RTÉ reportadly cut from the press conference last night as soon as Browne started asking questions.
Meanwhile in further coverage of the acopolypse, er, I mean bailout (which has now turned into a political crisis) the Frontline has been pulled forward to 21:30 tonight.
