I like those, I must admit.

These new ones appear to be a lot more imaginative than the previous ones, although the music from the old ones do sound like they've been ripped from the Windows 98 start up theme.

When the initial three circles look came in, the music off those idents were taken from a motorolla ringtone which was one of the defaults on most Razr phones(!)

What do people think of the new afternoon show slot. I personally am disappointed as the Bill was axed

RTE Two got an new look on Thursday, has anyone got any caps? I thought there should be an RTE thread that was separate from the News One.

EDIT: This thread could expand to all irish channels I suppose.

Really? Can't say I noticed... I liked the old look (it was a room that had weird stuff happening in it). What's the new one like? Im guessing it's ''modern irish young people'' themed.

Really the new look is a development of the old, its still overwhelmingly green, its still a room with weird stuff happening in it. Now its got things like bees and flowers (and a venus fly-trap!) in it. Doesn't seem to be as fun as the old look though. Anyone betting on short-term for this look should remember that since RTÉ2 started, the majority of its its looks have lasted five years or more (the 1979, 1988, 1997, and 2004 looks). The only one which had a very short time on air was the very short lived 1987 RTÉ corporate look (where RTÉ One and RTÉ Two had nearly identical idents).

As for TV3's revised look - it is really no more and no less what the January rebrand should have been. The idents unvieled in January were the worst I had seen on any channel in ages (they really looked like something out of the 1980s) and thankfully have been replaced - there's three I've seen, one with an escalator, another with a girl dancing around a tree (or Three!) and another with the 3 swimming through a wave.

For me, the TV3 idents at the moments are very BBC2 inspired (I think). BBC2 should have had idents like this, the recent rebrand and refresh just left many confused. Three did a good job on the idents so far. Did anyone know that the cost to rebrand TV3 and 3e (which still has the January style graphics) was reported to have cost only €100,000?

They look nice, they work better in video then they did in stills, and as for the TV Three idents, wow! £100,000, that's really good for some good quality idents like that, if they could get the music sorted, it would be great Smile

Silly me, forgot to add that excluded any adverts made after the initial rebrand. The €100,000 purely went on the graphics and advertising. The actual nice ones were an extra expense. So that's about €15 on the graphics and the rest on advertising 3e if you think about it.

In other news:

The new series of The Apprentice has started on 3 (Bill Cullen fronted of course). This year there is a ''You're Fired'' show presented by Brendan Courtney (whom some of you may remember from The Clothes Show). 1 EP in so far, pretty poor bunch of candidates on the surface. Looking into it there is some really well qualified people in it this year (one got 2 degrees from the Uni I'm at ((voted best university in Ireland 2 years in a row may I add)) ). Looks like it is going to be a good year. Of course there is the Irish version of 'Nick and Margret) which now has last years winner as the female on the panel (good addition).

The Byrne Ultimatium still hasn't got any funnier, better or watchable

The Late Late Show still hasn't got any funnier, better or watchable.

and TTV has been re-branded..., no idea if 'The Den' or whatever they're calling it these days has been re-branded too.

TTV has been rebranded to Two Tube and The Den has not been rebranded. I don't think there are any plans to rebrand it as a new now next then graphic was launched in the last month or so.
