Some people having been calling in "Soarview" for some reason!
Serves RTÉ right. They picked a name that was hybrid Irish-English, satisfying no-one. The Irish langauge lobby wouldn't have been satisfied with anything short of a fully Irish name. The rest of us just want something we could pronounce. "Freeview" (which is essentially what "Saorview" means) would apparently have caused too much confusion with the UK version which can be received in some areas here.
Anyway, back to TV3, and I quite like these idents. 3e is far more in need of a makeover though. Their presentation is essentially just a bouncing 3 and e on a black/grey gradient background. Although the original Channel 6 idents that it replaced were terrible.
