A "large logo form up" ident? Thought they had gone out the door years ago. Haven't watched TV3 yet today, must take a look at the 11pm junction.

At least I know now how to pronounce Saorview. I've been calling it Sour-view for the last few months.

Good to see the idents have grown in scale and execution after the awfully cheap looking launch set. The logo change seems justified now.

Some people having been calling in "Soarview" for some reason!

Serves RTÉ right. They picked a name that was hybrid Irish-English, satisfying no-one. The Irish langauge lobby wouldn't have been satisfied with anything short of a fully Irish name. The rest of us just want something we could pronounce. "Freeview" (which is essentially what "Saorview" means) would apparently have caused too much confusion with the UK version which can be received in some areas here.

Anyway, back to TV3, and I quite like these idents. 3e is far more in need of a makeover though. Their presentation is essentially just a bouncing 3 and e on a black/grey gradient background. Although the original Channel 6 idents that it replaced were terrible.

It's quite simple but like that they've done something a bit different with the end boards. The ident concept is good but not sure on the cut to the square logo at the end - better leave it a bit abstract IMO.

are there any plans to add any uk channels to the line up - given the history of channel 4 etc on mmds?
