flicking past the hits last night i came accross a rather unusual sight.

two rather un-hip looking large ladies dancing to the music in betweeng signing the music. it certainly made the channel more watchable for me, however (i say this out of ignorance), how useful is this service to deaf people? i'm sure deaf people must go out to clubs like the rest of us to socialise - but would a deaf person get much from watching the lyrics translated into BSL?

i presume this is part of DTT broadcasters to meet minimum signing requirements rather than the hits catering for a specific need?

With older hits yes, but with todays hits i don't see why they should bother signing them. The lyrics themselves aren't worth remembering!

I thought that first pic was Jo Brand for a split second.

I wonder if Another Level's (or Silk if your old skool) Freak Me will get signed but judging on the lyrics.... probably not!

I wonder if they were told purposely to 'jive' whilst there were no lyrics being sung?

Does this act actully benefit deaf people in any way at all? Its not like they can hear the music; if I was a deaf person, I think i'd take it as a pi55 take.
